Speedy deletion nomination of File:Maynard Terrace in Clutton from circa 1900.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Maynard Terrace in Clutton from circa 1900.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:54, 23 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • I think we are safe applying {{PD-UK}} to this. Note that the licence details you applied were inappropriate: a) it is pretty obvious that the creators of the CD do not hold the copyright (if any) and b) "non-profit only" is not allowed in Wikipedia image licenses. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:22, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Maynard Terrace edit

Hi AlanB100, Well done for creating Maynard Terrace. I will remove the orphan tag as it now has links from Clutton, Somerset and Somerset Coalfield, although the aim is to have at least 3 incoming links to a page. I'm not a copyright expert but wikipedia has to be very careful about infringing the rights of copyright owners and this is probably why you received the message. If you can find out who owns the rights to the image they can donate the materials - see Wikipedia:Copyrights for more. More on Clutton would be useful & if you have enough source material articles on the collieries would be good - I thought about doing this when I was working on the coalfield article - but my sources are limited. If you need any help just let me know & you may be interested in joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Somerset for other local collaborations and projects.— Rod talk 20:41, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

You might also be interested in doing an article on Clutton railway station which hasn't been created yet. There is some info on it at Bristol and North Somerset Railway#Clutton but no sources given. Would be best to look at some of the other articles on List of closed railway stations in Britain to get an idea of the format. I'm not into railways that much but did spend an hour on Sunday morning at Midsomer Norton railway station.— Rod talk 20:57, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Do you still have the original photo CD, to see if this had a photogrpaher listed, the reason for asking is so if needed a check can be made of local archives by other contributors, possibly for the original negative or plate (long shot)? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 09:05, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
