Roadster

Hi, on the "Types of Motorcycles" talk page, you wrote; "The MT-09 is a motorcycle for all occasions. It's fun." See? There's nothing wrong with the word "motorcycle". IMO". But why did you misquote MCN, whose headline was "The MT-09 is a ROADSTER for all occasions. It's fun." The whole point is whether or not the term roadster is a recognised type. Hi. Sorry my English is sometimes not so clear. I replaced the terms in order to show that the term "roadster" in this sentence, is just here to add some kind of style but in reality means "motorcycle". That's my view on this. To me, "roadster" is just another nice name we give to our motocycles, like a "beast", a "tool", a "weapon" etc, such nicknames we use when talking with style or with an attitude. Like yourself, I like the term "roadster" and I would like it to exist in the encyclopedia. I would suggest you could write a chapter about nicknames that are given to the bikes in the motorcycle world. The word "roadster" would then be recognized in its full advanrage with no controversy. I'm afraid I don't know enough about nicknames to write the article you suggest, and I think that my view that "roadster" is a useful and well-defined term, as opposed to a nickname, has been explained already. XLV750R

Hi Akseli9,
I can understand that you are upset about the undoing of your revision. I agree that there is much, much more to say about the XLV. I just didn't think that pressing those infos into the existing text was an elegant solution. Maybe adding a new section to the article about the historical context and the Paris-Dakar marketing phenomenon, entitled e.g. "The Paris-Dakar marketing phenomenon and the XLV750R" would be good. This section could also contain information about the BMW R80G/S - in case it is directly related to the XLV750R. If you like, we could try to write such a section together.

Converting Types of Motorcylces to list

I see you have contributed, or sought to contribute, to the page on types of motorcycles. We are currently considering reducing that page to a list. The list would link to separate pages exploring each type in depth. An example of how it would look is in my sandbox. See the talk page for Types of Motorcycles for further discussion. Automated edits

First of all: I did not "order" anything. I did not close the thread on the Humanities page, and I do not know who did. I made a statement there, and that was as far as my participation went.

Second: I am willing to remove climbers from the "sportswomen" category if it is felt to be necessary. However, I would point out that Category:Female climbers is a direct subcategory of Category:Sportswomen by sport. Furthermore, I tend to be of the opinion that climbing is a sport, and if someone is defined as a climber that person can furthermore be defined as a sportsman or sportswoman. --Ser Amantio di Nicolao^{Che dicono a Signa?}_{Lo dicono a Signa.} 08:15, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

Climbing is a sport, well, especially sport-climbing, not necessarily all types of climbing. If you don't know about climbing, please leave it to the ones who know and stop that mass-editing of tons of articles where you don't know the subject. You have also categorized some explorers, some adventurers, some geologists, some cartographers, etc, as "sportswomen" and "sportsmen". On your talkpage I can see that many other Wikipedia contributors already warned you about that wrong mass-categorizing that you perform. You are incorrect. All other problems that were brought to my attention yesterday were fixed quickly and discussed in a civil manner. As for explorers, adventurers, geologists, and cartographers, please provide me examples. Are you saying that when you mass-edit and cause some mistakes to happen in the mass-process, it is then me who has to point the mistakes and to revert them? Are you saying that not only you can mass-edit and cause mistakes, also it has then to be the others' task to be specific, when your automated mass-system of editing obviously is not specific at all? What I consider to be a mistake, is to mass-edit multiple articles at a time without knowing the subject, without reading the articles, without even remembering which ones you edited. The articles that I can point to you are only the ones that are on my own watchlist. They are only a small percentage of all the articles that you edited without kbowledge of the subject and without remembering which ones you edited. If I point them to you, it means that you can freely mass-edit tons of mistakes, then it would be my task to waste my time in trying to point them to you. Should Wikipedia function that way? A lot of what's on my watchlist are articles about mountaineering, all forms of it, and about people related to mountains and mountaineering. Mountain is not only about practicing sports. Mountain is also about geography, geology, adventurers and explorers, tourism, etc etc etc etc etc. That you can mass-categorize all that into one single "sportsmen" and "sportswomen" category, is a mistake. I fixed or reverted some of your mistakes, then I realized that for one mistake I could see, there were probably plenty that are not on my watchlist, and this is confirmed by reading other Wikipedia contributors remarks on your talkpage. I also realized that I was wasting my time and my focussing on such tasks, and this is not good for the Encyclopedia, while I could be productive. The problem is not my watchlist. It is not about helping ME. It is about the articles that contain new mistakes. It is not much (still is a bit) about the mistakes that we can easily fix. It is about the mistakes that we don't see because they are not on someone's watchlist, the ones that you create at an alarming rate with your mass-editing method that doesn't read articles, doesn't know the subject, doesn't even remember which articles you edit.
