Skynet

His site is skynetrecordings. He also has a myspace site, so it's the same person who is expressing those thoughts. --TylerDurdenn (talk) 21:28, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

But how is he notable? I have a website as well. Yet, I don't have a Wikipedia article. I even have my own YouTube channel. Airplaneman 21:30, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
He toured several times around the world... so has Dom & Roland and he's apparently notable. --TylerDurdenn (talk) 21:31, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
If you can find reliable sources to back up these claims, I'll remove the tag on the article for you :). Airplaneman 21:33, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
He said that he decided to stop working together with Stakka because he felt restricted. He said it himself on his website's biography. What more reliable source do you need? --TylerDurdenn (talk) 21:35, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Something other than your word. A reliable website link (not Myspace, for instance) or a book or something. Airplaneman 21:37, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Skynetrecordings.com biography --TylerDurdenn (talk) 21:39, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Ah - I should have mentioned - we need something other than his autobiography to verify notability. If he's not covered by reliable third party sources, I doubt he warrants a Wikipedia article. Nothing personal, I promise! Airplaneman 21:41, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Dogs On Acid --TylerDurdenn (talk) 21:42, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Could you link the webpage, please? I would preferably prefer three or more reliable sources, linked to the page you found them from. Airplaneman 21:45, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
I need help from someone who knows much more about him, i just found what there is on his site, but there are Limewax, Spor and Noisia so he's notable as well, sources just need to be found --TylerDurdenn (talk) 21:52, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Just because there are other artists out there, it doesn't mean he's notable. I need reliable sources. Without them, I can't verify that he's notable. I noticed you created User:TylerDurdenn/Skynet. Good idea; I'm removing Myspace as a source because it isn't reliable (click the link!). Airplaneman 21:54, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, as I don't have access to the bot, we'll have to live with it. I also like dab solver and checklinks as well as custom regex, which I use to fix dashes. Airplaneman 23:09, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Nice work!

Congratulations on your great work helping clear the backlog of unassessed articles for WikiProject Apple Inc.  ! It was a pleasure working with you, I would give you a shiny barnstar but I think Mono will take care of that  . - EdoDodo talk 16:55, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! You did great work as well, and so did the other participants and Fetchcomms. Next, on to B class checklists! (I think I'm going to do some work on Macintosh first, though). I, as well, enjoyed working with you. Airplaneman 16:57, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 May newsletter

We are half way through round 3, with a little under a month to go. The current overall leader is   Sasata (submissions), who has 570 points. He leads pool C. Pools A, B and D are led by   Hunter Kahn (submissions),   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and   White Shadows (submissions) respectively. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Two of last year's final 8,   Theleftorium (submissions) and   Scorpion0422 (submissions), have dropped out of the competition, saying they would rather their place went to someone who will have more time on their hands than them next round. On a related note, a special thank you goes to   White Shadows (submissions) for his help behind the scenes once again. There is currently a problem with the poster, perhaps caused by the new skin- take a look at this discussion and see if you can help. The competition has continued to tick over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. Good luck to all! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Assessment of Redirects

Hey again! When I was looking through the newly assessed articles I noticed that we'd both assessed some redirects as Redirect or NA. When I did a bit of research and asked on IRC it seemed to me that most other WikiProjects were simply redirecting the talk pages and removing project banners, so I went ahead and did that for the articles that I could find using this list (edits here). I hope that's all fine with you, and if it's not then I'll be happy to discuss it with you and other project members so we can reach an agreement over what should be done with talk pages of redirects. - EdoDodo talk 18:29, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

That is kind of a trade-off. I'm not sure about it; it doesn't exactly matter. I recommend using the banner, then adding {{softredirect}} to the other talkpage. mono 18:35, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... I don't think we should have the project banner on redirect talk pages at all, because that would simply make too many pages to "maintain" (there wouldn't effectively be anything to maintain but they'd still be getting in our lists, and so would waste the time of editors and bots who are making edits to ALL of our pages). Unless there is some reason why a redirect should have a talk page (eg. ongoing discussion about changing the redirect) then it shouldn't even have one – which is why almost all of the redirect talk pages I edited were for articles that were only made redirects after the talk page had been created, and still had the banner left over from before they became redirects. Once the user is redirected to the relevant talk page of the main article then he will see our project banner, and know that the page is maintained by us, I really don't see the need to put our project banner on the actual redirect. Anyway, that's just my opinion, would be nice to hear some more project members to see what consensus is on this. - EdoDodo talk 18:51, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I've been redirecting all talkpages without content besides the banner. If there was content, I would asses as NA class. Airplaneman 18:54, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh okay, makes sense a guess, I preferred to move all talk page content to the main talk page (if it was relevant) and then redirect. - EdoDodo talk 18:58, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I guess that's an option as well. As {{Cite mac}} doesn't seem to be ready yet, maybe we could start a B class checklist assessment drive sometime soon? Airplaneman 21:25, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Sure, I'd be happy to help out. By the way, how are you currently getting the list of articles that need to be checked for the B criteria? Are you just looking at all C articles and checking the ones that havn't been checked yet or is there a category for it? If there isn't a category perhaps we could add some code to the WikiProject banner template so that all articles that havn't yet been checked for the B article criteria and should be checked (C articles) get added to a category, shouldn't be too difficult. - EdoDodo talk 11:38, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Note: I've created an addition to the current WikiProject banner that would add articles to suitable categories depending on their B class checklist (categories for what issues there are, and if it is need for a B class check). It's at User:EdoDodo/TemplateSandbox and I'm ready to make it live if nobody disagrees (see project talk discussion). - EdoDodo talk 14:11, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

←{{Cite mac}} is ready for use. All users should add

{"field": "appleNumber", "label":"Apple number"},
{"field": "everyURL", "label":"EverMac URL", "tooltip": "Only from after /apple/"},

Not working for me either, I copied the code and purged cache but the "Cite Mac" button isn't showing, only the other citation templates. - EdoDodo talk 18:51, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tagging

Hello. I'm afraid I decided to decline your speedy deletion nomination of this article because when I googled the name I found sources indicating that the subject had been an Olympic athlete. It's always a good idea to quickly google names such as this, even if the article has very limited content, as notable individuals from developing countries are poorly covered by Wikipedia and, often because of language difficulties, their articles may start from very small beginnings. CIreland (talk) 01:53, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up :). Airplaneman 02:28, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Incomplete B-Class Criteria Checklist Category

Hey, since you are assessing potential B-Class articles I thought I'd warn you that following discussion at the project's talk page a category have been created for Apple Inc. articles with incomplete B-Class checklists and a subcategory for Apple Inc. C and B Class articles with incomplete B-Class checklists, which should be checked more urgently. Do note that these categories are currently mostly empty but will slowly be filled automatically using values from our assessment banner some time soon (the delay is because of caching). Happy assessing! - EdoDodo talk 18:49, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Novels

Hey I noticed that you are a candidate in the election, as am I, and wanted to say hello. I also wanted to ask you if you knew when the election is going to begin. I noticed that the project seemed a little dead and I was wondering if they are even going to have one.Tetobigbro talk 03:08, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello, nice to meet you! Yes, the project leaders have been busy in real life, and I think the election has been postponed indefinitely until the project gets rolling again. When I saw that the elections were to begin soon a few months back, I threw my name in a few days before after seeing that nobody else had volunteered. I'm focusing on WikiProject Apple Inc. right now and don't have the time to revive the project, although I have talked to Sadads about it; maybe he could work with you to get it going again! (I'd help too, but I can't guarantee 100% of my Wiki-time). Regards, Airplaneman 03:13, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I understand completely, at the moment I've kind of got a few things going on with Militar History and I don't even really have time to work on the novel articles that I have going right now. I'm trying to get better time management, but it's hard... even if it is only on the computer. And thanks, I'll talk to him.Tetobigbro talk 03:18, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

OK; happy editing, Airplaneman 03:20, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I do. You'd have my support :). You're more active in the novel scope than I am these days, anyway, so you'd fit the position better. Airplaneman 03:27, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I'd say go ahead. The project needs all that it can get. And if you do a lot for the project, have at it.Tetobigbro talk 04:06, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Went for it. Should be interesting to see how this goes. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:22, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Cool; first though, we have to see who's still active and get the word out! Airplaneman 02:00, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
I find it very difficult to write about novels. What to the people who get elected do? mono 02:27, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Airplaneman. Since you were active in the MBP gan, you know what to expect and also (likely) some reviewers. Could you look over MBA a little more and possibly enlist the reviewing help of another editor? Thanks, mono 02:29, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I'll look for some - O helpful talk page stalkers, the above needs your attention :). I added a few comments a while back; try to work on those. Thanks for the Welcome + A question

Hi Airplaneman,

Thanks for welcoming me to wikipedia! I am a new user, and I have a question about my first entry, named Burnaby Hospital. I used may references and abided by the Wikipedia guidelines, but when I google it in the search engine, it appears only on the 4th page. Usually, the Wikipedia entries are the 2nd or 3rd thing that shows up on Google. What can I do to make it more Search-Engine-Optimized?

Thank you!

Intern001 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.1.197.247 (talk) 06:07, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)The point is not to make the page search-engine optimized. The point is to make it useful to the world, to inform others. It will probably climb up the ranks as people read it more often, so don't worry about it. Brambleclawx 17:31, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia; I think I remember patrolling Burnaby Hospital a few days ago! As for search engine optimization, you and I have no control over that (as Brambleclawx said above). I believe Google's complex search algorithms do, so we can't change that unless you go to Google and help them write the code for their search engine (or Bing or Yahoo! search, for the matter). Many references don't count, sadly; just make sure they are reliable. All in all, it would be good to look at the good article criteria to see how you can improve the article you wrote, as well as the huge manual of style (read it in increments!). Oh, and you can sign comments by typing ~~~~, which will magically produce your username and talk page link when you save. Please ask any other questions if you have any. Happy editing, Airplaneman 18:19, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Some more suggestions:
  • See my changes to the article for formatting tips and other things
  • Burnaby Hospital Foundation could go as a subsection to the Burnaby Hospital page
  • On your editing toolbar, click the "cite" button. Choose your template, for example Cite web, and fill out the fields. Add the reference, and it should be similar to the way you manually cited it. It's faster and has more features, so you might want to consider using it for future referencing.
  • I have created Burnaby General Hospital as a redirect to Burnaby Hospital.
  • Overall, this is one of the best new articles I've seen (especially from a new user!) Most are in dire need of attention or aren't articles (for example, "My friend is cool", etc.) Great work.

Thank you

Hello! RE: Jack Mitchell

Hi, thanks for doing the Reflinking properly on Jack Mitchell (jockey). I must admit I wouldn't know how to do this - is there a guide, somewhere? Also, one of the links has come up as a dead link, but is working for me (The times online one). Could you possibly fix this, or tell me how I would fix it? Much appreciated. SmokingNewton (MESSAGE ME) 15:16, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello! Reflinks is a tool that fills in bare links using cite templates (you can also do this manually, but it takes some time). WP:REFLINKS is where you need to go. I have it bookmarked because I use it on a regular basis :). I'll check out the dead link (it was tagged by the tool as such) and if it works, I'll fill it out manually. Airplaneman 15:25, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! I believe you were the first Wikipedian I ever spoke to, nice to see you again. :). I've been away for a couple of months with a job abroad, but I'm back and more active than ever. SmokingNewton (MESSAGE ME) 15:28, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
OK, I'm filling out the ref manually, as it works for me as well. Happy editing! Airplaneman 15:29, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Yorkshire dialect

While i admit my first edit of the 'yorkshire dialect' page (Forgive my lack of link, i haven't edited wikipedia before tonight) was meant as a joke, the second, however, was not. I was merely unsure of the exact formatting, which, knowing me, i forgot to mention in my summary line. Forgive the curiosity, but why did you revert the second edit back to the previous version? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.92.142.211 (talk) 04:44, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I reverted your first edit because it was defamatory. Because of that "joke", yes, you were put on a "vandal blacklist". Therefore, your second edit was brought to my attention, and I didn't take it very seriously; I reverted it as well. If you could find a reliable source about the pronunciation of the word "of", please go ahead and re-add it. Happy editing, Airplaneman 15:41, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

(it feels like every time I think my edit count can start to recover, it turns out I have something to do again). Anyways. Has Wikipedia:Requests for comment/May 2010 skin change/Bug reports#Overlapping things happened to you before? Brambleclawx 23:04, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! I'm doing fine and am enjoying helping out here; how are you? Recently, I've been whacking vandals with igloo, but that can become boring… other'n that, I've been reviewing some Good articles, patrolling new pages (which is how I ran into Ethancollierwilson) and doing maintenance for WP:APPLE, mostly. I know you're busy, but seeing that you have reviewed more than a few good articles yourself, may you please spot check my GA reviews? I've passed all of them; while that might not be bad, necessarily, I just want to make sure I'm not letting any subpar articles through. Hey, maybe I've just been lucky, but it's better to be cautious :) Airplaneman 04:26, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
It's an odd one- I've seen people do that once, but never multiple times, but I'll AGF for a little longer. How is Igloo? I've never used it, though NSD managed to report himself to AIV with it! I'll be happy to take a look at your reviews, but it'll have to wait until I've had some sleep! Are you enjoying the GA reviewing? I almost always find it to be quite a rewarding process. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 04:46, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I had decided to stop AGF-ing by reporting him to AIV :(. Maybe it was a bit too soon. Igloo is nice in that you don't have to install anything on your computer; it works in your browser. It is not nearly as full-featured as Huggle, though, and is in Alpha testing, so it can be buggy. It is easy to use, though, and gets the job done. As for GA reviewing, I've been lucky to have cooperative nominators (this really helps push the review along) who have nominated fairly "good" articles. It has been rewarding and I aim to continue to chip away at the GAN backlog. Thanks for offering to take a look at my reviews; please don't hold back any criticism (hey, it can't get as bad as RFA  ). Airplaneman 12:32, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank You For Quick Vandalism Repair

Thank you for your quick response to vandalism at List of characters in Fanboy and Chum Chum / Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:19, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

No problem; I give credit to Igloo for helping me catch the vandalism. Nice to meet you, Airplaneman 04:22, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I also give credit to igloo for my vandal-fighting. Maybe you could use it. You'll need rollback permissions to use it. ~NerdyScienceDude () 20:33, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Erm... not sure, as he has a grand total of 29 edits :(. Maybe after a few weeks of heavy editing and gaining more experience :) Airplaneman 20:35, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm happy to help, but yeah, I agree that I could use a bit more experience.  :) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:46, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

User talk:Edwardedema

On the above talk page, you misspelled your talk page link, which caused a red link. The person you're talking to won't know where to go. I would've fixed it myself, but that would be modifying other peoples' comments. ~NerdyScienceDude () 20:31, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

I would say it's OK per WP:TPG (more specifically, WP:TPO); just tell me after doing it. Thanks for telling me; how'd you find out? Airplaneman 20:33, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
This edit to iOS version history appeared in my watchlist. ~NerdyScienceDude () 20:45, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Cool. I stumbled upon Blue striped grunts while NPPing, and I think I will try to crank out my first DYK with this :). Airplaneman 20:47, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
You don't have a DYK? This is an interesting article you've found. I just submitted 2010 Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 to DYK, which Nascar1996 and I have worked on. It is also currently a GAN. Good luck working on that fish article. ~NerdyScienceDude () 20:53, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Yup. More into GAs, and I didn't know about it back when I created articles such as Standard Rex rabbit or Jeanne Betancourt. The other stubs I've created didn't qualify anyway (too short). Airplaneman 20:57, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh well, someone got to the fish article before me (which is good for Wikipedia :D) Airplaneman 03:28, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

"Homework2"

I was watchlist checking after being away all of yesterday due to a concert, and I you notified an IP user of a speedy of a page called Homework2. Judging by the other entries in my watchlist, I'm guessing it was an attack page against Hereforhomework2 after they reverted vandalism, wasn't it? (just trying to piece together the action I missed). Brambleclawx 22:32, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

On an unrelated note, I notice that the Warriors quality statistics have not been updated since they switched over to the new bot. (its on the WikiProject Warriors talk somewhere). Do you think this is an issue that needs to be brought up with WP:1.0? Brambleclawx 22:40, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
"I you notified" - I'm interpreting that as "I saw you notified" :) - and yes, I notified them, but it wasn't an attack page - it was junk, but not attack-like or anything. If I can remember correctly, it said something like, "Who is Homework2?" or something silly like that. Airplaneman 23:54, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Warriors articles by quality statistics is what is being transcluded onto the Warriors page. If you click "edit" on that page, you will find User:WP 1.0 bot/Tables/Project/Warriors transcluded onto that. If you investigate even further, this will show you the change. It was done when the bot was updated in January, when Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Warriors articles by quality statistics was last updated. User:WP 1.0 bot/Tables/Project/Warriors was created and set to transclude onto the old table, which in turn is transcluded to the Warriors project page. To make a long story short, it's still being updated. Airplaneman 23:59, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Looks like your investigative skills are better than mine! Good to know what happened to the table, since I found it useful. Brambleclawx 00:06, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, it did take me a while first finding out for WP:APPLE :). Airplaneman 00:07, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Feel free to help revamp my userpage at User:Brambleclawx/newuserpage. I'm going to try to make Warriors references in it (I mentioned this to Princess already). Brambleclawx 00:40, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Charter member

I was using that term to describe those who participated in the original proposal for WikiProject Talk pages and went on to join. Also, by the nature of the term, I figured the guy that signed up first should get it, even though he didn't participate in the proposal (although he did find out about it via one of the proposal participants).

OK, thanks! Airplaneman 18:01, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Help

If you would, I need some advice to review article for Good Article. I would like to help to get them done quicker, but I don't quite understand. Thanks. --Nascar1996 18:02, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

So do you want to review a GA, or has your nomination been sitting at WP:GAN for awhile? Airplaneman 18:21, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
I want to help the backlog get smaller. I would love to review, but I dont know that much about it. Also, I know I can't review anything I made major edits to. --Nascar1996 18:26, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, since it looks like you have written quite a few good articles yourself, take a look at the reviews for those pages. Looking over WP:GA? and WP:RGA is also beneficial. WP:GAN/M lists people who are experienced and willing to mentor new reviewers (although I'm not a mentor, if you want, we can even pick up an article and do a joint review!). Does that answer your question? Airplaneman 18:38, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
So far it has helped me a lot adn has answered my question, but how can you tell if the article has any edit wars? A joint review also sounds great!--Nascar1996 18:45, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
A good thing to do would be to look in the article's history. If there is tons of vandalism and people are constantly reverting, then it is not stable. I consider a page unstable if the vandalism or edit warring (view a couple diffs - are people undoing each other over and over again?) warrants a request at WP:RPP. OK, joint review it is! When would you like to start (I'm free from Saturday onwards; will be gone tonight and most of tomorrow)? Airplaneman 18:49, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Anytime until August 19, 2010, when I restart school. I have been out of school since June 2, 2010, and I have been on Wikkipedia staring at my Watch List because mostly during the week I have almost nothing to edit. For the joint review, I would prefer that it would not be on any of these days. Thanks for the advice! --Nascar1996 18:58, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

I have done one with assitance from Julian Colton, but I want to see different perspectives.--Nascar1996 02:37, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
