Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Ahurvitz2. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Draft:Roberta Grossman, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations.
At WP:AFC you said "I have been asked again by Ms. Grossman to include ..." which suggests a close connection. 220 of Borg 19:11, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ahurvitz2, you have now removed all the references from the article. I said you need to remove the embedded external links not the references that are between <ref></ref> tags. This here [1] is what I meant220 of Borg 20:03, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

You said to remove "embedding' external links in the text."
And then you instructed me to "move the sources out of the references section, and place them into the text after the fact/s to which they apply."
I removed the external links from the text.
But I didn't put the sources back into the text because they are external links.
Does that make sense to you? It makes no sense to me at all.
I'm sorry....I see you have made the corrections which I could not understand how to do.
wp:Indentation added to above message. 220 of Borg 20:28, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have restored the refs, and removed the ones in the reference section that were unnecessary here. I think I have maintained all your intermediate edits. References and external links are two different things! Originally I didn't notice that you had duplicates of the references, both in the text and within the references section.
It is now 6:30 AM here and I am going to bed hours late! :-/ 220 of Borg

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. And hope it will work.--Ahurvitz2 (talk) 17:13, 7 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. 220 of Borg 20:29, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wxidea: Thank you again for your continuing help

edit

I'm very appreciative of your suggestions and guidance in writing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Roberta_Grossman

You left me a comment: "Add a block which is like a filmography. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Thomas_Anderson (you can be simpler than that, and can skip the reviews if it's not appropriate for documentaries, but the idea is to have a table/grid/matrix."

Which I am adding right now. Along with new categories as you suggested.

Thank you. Ahurvitz2 (talk) 17:51, 12 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
