June 2020: Wikipedia is not social media edit

In case you came to wikipedia hoping to make friends or chat, this is an encyclopedia project, not social media.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a social network. Wikipedia is not a place to socialize or write things that are not directly related to improving the encyclopedia. Off-topic material may be deleted at any time. We're sorry if this message has discouraged you from editing here, but the ultimate goal of this website is to build an encyclopedia. Thank you.--Quisqualis (talk) 02:10, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

As a postscript, I'd like to add that everyone on Wikipedia is a volunteer editor. We are paid nothing.--Quisqualis (talk) 02:20, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
