List of films shot in Budapest – a source for extension edit

Hi, I'm very glad that you started the article List of films shot in Budapest. I proposed this idea, too, in this August in the Hungarian Wikipedia (see "Magyarországon forgatott külföldi filmek listája" -- ?) but we didn't find an good solution for harmonizing the diverse aspects. You can, however, find some new films for this list from the above Hungarian page. I'm looking forward to hearing about your ideas. -- Adam78 19:29, 14 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing that out, I will see the list and try to incorporate that into the entry. I thought of this entry partly because I have already did some research on the topic in 2004, and partly because simply collecting films that were shot in Hungary regardless of the type of production (that would have meant a list of all Hungarian films ever made) wouldn't have made sense and wouldn't have made a good encyclopaedia entry.

As you may have seen in the page history, I changed "non-Hungarian films" to "internationally distributed films". I think it's not as a broad extension of the scope as if we included all the Hungarian films ever shot, but it may let non-Hungarian people find Hungarian films where recognizable scenes/venues of Budapest are shown. For example, if someone visited Budapest and happened to see Lőrinc pap tér in Józsefváros, they may be glad to find that this is the square shown in Fateless. Or if they saw the Eastern Railway Station, they may be glad to recognize its building painted in Willy the Sparrow. – Anyway, it may be worth making specific sub-sections for Hungarian films under the individual main listings. What do you think? -- Adam78 23:32, 14 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Quite okay, I liked your additions but I really wanted this article only to have films that are or may be internationally known. There are so many Hungarian films that were shot in Budapest or have parts in it (like nearly all non-low budget fiction movies since 1990, or possibly 1970 or even more back), that would have much more sense in a list of Hungarian films. -- AdamDobay 07:46, 15 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

You may be interested to browse this: Category:Lists of films, including List of movies based on location, into which I inserted your article. Do you think it could be renamed to the standard form (according to this collection) "List of movies set in Budapest" or it would considerably affect its content? -- Adam78 09:36, 15 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Will check that out. I don't think it would fit in list of movies set because one part of that list is actually set there. If you wanted to fit it in you would have to divide the entry into two. I don't know if that is necessary. AdamDobay 16:53, 15 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Do you think that the film An American Rhapsody belongs in this list? Based on its IMDb entry, it seems to me that it does. -- Adam78 18:04, 23 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

It does, and it's in. I included it ten days ago. :) AdamDobay 20:05, 23 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Charmed; Tarsina edit

From your comments on the Charmed talk page, I gather that you know a lot about the show. If you've read the Charmed book "The Queen's Curse", can you please check my article on Tarsina and add any extra details that you can think of. Walton monarchist89 10:37, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

While I am knowledgable on the show itself, I have not seen or read any of the books past book four. Thus I am unable to help you in this matter. AdamDobay 18:04, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

OK, thanks anyway. If you know any users who are knowledgeable about the books, please tell them about the article - or if you think the article's too obscure and not really needed, tell me (on my talk page) and I'll delete it. Walton monarchist89 10:44, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think you should put it into a stub, maybe you'll find people that way that can help you. AdamDobay 10:49, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thought I'd give you this edit

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Charmed Piper'sDaughter.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Charmed Piper'sDaughter.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:24, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Currently 8.56% of the MediaWiki messages and 0.00% of the messages of the extensions used by the Wikimedia Foundation projects have been localised. Please help us help your language by localising and proof reading at Betawiki. This is the recent localisation activity for your language. Thanks, GerardM २०:२८, १२ पौषमाघे २००९ (UTC)
PS Please help us complete the most wanted messages.
I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here to use your language in the interface, but if you would log in to for example the Japanese language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here. In fact, of 1,736 messages in the core of MediaWiki, 1.48% of the messages have been translated. Betawiki also supports the translation of messages for 126 extensions, with 2,174 messages. Many of them are used in WMF projects and they are vital for understanding the wiki. Currently *.**% of the WMF extension messages have been translated. Translators for over 90 languages contribute their work to MediaWiki this way every month.
If you wish to contribute to better support of your language in MediaWiki, as well as for many MediaWiki extensions, please visit Betawiki, create an account and request translator privileges. You can see the current status of localisation of your language on MediaWiki.org and do not forget to get in touch with others that may already be working on your language on Betawiki.
If you have any further questions, please let me know on my talk page on Betawiki. We will try and assist you as much as possible, for example by importing all messages from a local wiki for you to start with, if you so desire.
You can also find us on the Freenode IRC network in the channel #mediawiki-i18n where we will be happy to help you get started.
Thank you very much for your attention and I do hope to see some of you on Betawiki soon! Thanks, Malafaya@Betawiki ०१:४९, ५ फाल्गुने २००८ (UTC)
