I am interested in Medieval Languedoc, especially during the life and times of Saint Dominic, who is said to have seen an apparition of the Virgin Mary at 1208 in Prouille, Languedoc (now France). I am also interested in the history of the Rosary. The Albigensian Crusade was begun in 1209 after Saint Dominic failed to convert the Albigensians from what the Catholic Church considered heresy when he visited them in their land of Languedoc in 1206. I believe that the Blessed Mother instructed Saint Dominic to save those who could be converted by praying the Rosary and teaching others to pray the Rosary. The prayer of the Rosary with meditation upon the mystery of the life of Jesus show both His human and spiritual being. This meditation leads one to believe that Jesus was both man and God and that contradicts the teachings of the Albigensians who believed that Jesus was not a material being - in other words, they believed he was not incarnate. The image below is a contemporary photo of the walled city of Carcassonne which was a center for the crusaders who fought the Albigensians in the 13th Century.
