Speedy deletion nomination of Mobile Reagents edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mobile Reagents requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —KuyaBriBriTalk 18:19, 16 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:IMMDS scr02.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:IMMDS scr02.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 16 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Mobile Reagents edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mobile Reagents, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

Proposed deletion of SketchEl edit

The article SketchEl has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. None of the "references" mentions SketchEl at all.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletions edit

I have read your comment at Talk:SketchEl. You say "It is unlikely that anyone else will write a detailed wiki page about the project", and I get the impression that this is because the software has not received much independent coverage, in which case it probably does not satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines. I am myself a keen supporter of open source software, and I fully understand why you want to help "people find out about the project", as you said in your post to that talk page. However, unfortunately Wikipedia's policy is that articles are not to be used as a way of "spreading the word" about a product that has not yet received substantial independent coverage, even if it is a very worthwhile product, deserving of attention. I therefore think that the subject does not qualify for an article under Wikipedia's standards.

Wikipedia's deletion procedures are unfortunately often very confusing to a newcomer (I remember being confused myself when I started). In the case of a "speedy deletion" nomination, you are told not to remove the speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself, but rather to add a "hangon" tag. However, a "proposed deletion" (commonly abbreviated to "PROD) is a different matter, and is only supposed to be used for uncontroversial deletions. If anyone at all, including the author of the page, disagrees, then it is not uncontroversial, so you are perfectly free to remove the PROD notice, and do not need to add a "hangon". Since you clearly intended to contest the deletion proposal I have removed the PROD notice for you. This does not mean that the article cannot be deleted, but it does means that it cannot be deleted unless an "articles for deletion" (AfD) discussion takes place and results in a consensus to delete. If this happens you are perfectly welcome to take part in the discussion and argue for the article to be kept. If you want any further clarification of this admittedly confusing matter, please feel welcome to contact me on my talk page. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:23, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Since writing the above I have noticed that similar remarks apply to Mobile Molecular DataSheet, so I will remove the PROD notice there too. I will consider whether to start AfD discussions on either or both of these articles, and will certainly inform you if I do so. In the meanwhile if you can produce any independent sources to support the articles that will reduce the likelihood of eventual deletion. However, I know from experience that for software of this kind there frequently isn't much in the way of independent coverage. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:30, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
By the way, if you have not already done so I suggest reading User talk:JamesBWatson#Mobile Reagents. Presumably the anonymous posts there were from you. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:37, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of SketchEl for deletion edit

A discussion has begun about whether the article SketchEl, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SketchEl until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:26, 26 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
