Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -- intgr [talk] 11:23, 22 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thanks for pointing out the guidelines. I had an oversight that user profiles (originating from mailing lists and forums) were included on the links to avoid. I'm just acting in good faith when I added those links because I'm aware that the links have no SEO-benefit but I thought i'm doing the person of interest a service by linking their own content stream related to their contributions to the open-source community. Actually I think the website is somewhat useful and relevant in the given articles. What I object to, is adding the same website to many articles, by a user that has made few prior contributions to Wikipedia. This usually suggests that the user's primary interest is not improving Wikipedia, but driving traffic to the given site (i.e. promotion). Because Wikipedia editors see this sort of behavior almost daily, we tend to have zero tolerance towards such edits. The spam guideline words it thusly:
Don't gratuitously set off our spam radar. There are certain stylistic behaviors that will say "spam!" loud and clear to anyone who's watching:
  • Adding the same link to many articles or many wikis. The first person who notices you doing this will go through all your recent contributions with an itchy trigger finger on the revert button. And that's not much fun. Adding links across our other language editions is a bad idea too.

Acjacinto, as I said on my talkpage, please see if you can find a suitable wikiproject (you can find them through Wikipedia:WikiProject), and see if they have interest in the information that you can provide. Maybe that helps. --Dirk Beetstra T C 21:58, 31 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
