Notice the complainers name. Thats you clue. :D--intelati(Call) 04:22, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

He's from California. That's another clue. :) I have to say I did a double-take the first time I saw "Access Denied" in bold red letters, and it took me about 2 seconds to realize it was just a funny username. The user Andy Gump, er, Grump (and his dynamic IP's) was probably just annoyed at being slapped for his meataxe approach to an article, and he had to look for something to grump about. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 08:40, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

LGBT Adoption - Florida

Hi there - you reverted my edits to the LGBT Adoption page relating to the State of Florida. I'm assuming good faith and thinking that you haven't heard news of the recent court ruling and executive decision by Governor Crist. LGBT Adoption is now legal in Florida. Please see: http://articles.cnn.com/2010-09-22/us/florida.gay.adoptions_1_adoption-law-martin-gill-adoption-services?_s=PM:US

I do recognize that that piece needs citations, and I will add those tomorrow. I didn't want to leave the inaccurate information out there, however. Additionally, I removed the link to the map of North America as it continues not only inaccurate data on Florida, but also Arkansas - where a ban on gay adoption was struck down back in April.

Thanks 66.229.211.131 (talk) 06:50, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Your use of rollback

Your use of rollback at User talk:Neutralhomer was inappropriate. Jclemens' post was not vandalism, nor was it uncivil, nor was it a personal attack. It was a message left in good faith and you should not have rolled it back without an edit summary explaining why you were removing the message. I have reverted your rollback - feel free to remove it if you really insist, but please do not use rollback for it. Strange Passerby (talkcstatus) 05:02, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

I see you rolled yourself back before my revert got through. Fair enough. Strange Passerby (talkcstatus) 05:04, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
That was an accident, and I already self-reverted. I am on my iPod Touch, and I was loading my watchlist, but when I meant to click on Inka 888's talk page, it zoomed out all of a sudden and my finger ended up on top of the rollback button before I knew. sorry about that. American vs. English English

Regarding thing like what happened on User:HJMitchell, is there a way to figure out whether things like that are simply different dialects of English, or typos? Or do I have to just guess? Thanks! Flightx52 (talk) 20:41, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

That's a tough question to answer. One thing, though, that you should never do is change between English variants on somebody else's userpage. Cheers, Access Denied [FATAL ERROR] 22:39, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion

GOCE September 2010 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated! Several of our top editors were called away to real life concerns during the month (be careful out there, people!). This meant that once again, we did not meet all our lofty targets, but we did come close.

Stats

  • Out of 76 registered editors, 45 actively participated.
  • We nearly wiped out the 2008 articles from the backlog—there were only 13 remaining when the drive closed.
  • We reduced the backlog by 725 articles (11.5%), so it was another successful drive.
  • A total of 59 barnstars will be awarded to 40 editors—well done, and congratulations to all.

Barnstars
If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you edited in the July 2010 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, you may have earned rollover words, which counted towards this month's barnstars (except for the leaderboard awards). Any unused word credits will be held over for the next drive, as long as you participated in the September drive. Over the course of the next week or two, we will be handing out the barnstars. Click here to see a list of barnstar winners.

  • We will be holding our next drive in November. You can sign up here.

A huge "thank you" to all editors who helped clear the backlog and to others who helped out behind-the-scenes. See you at the next drive, and until then, please continue to help us work through the backlog. Happy editing!

Roman Catholic population of Ecuador

Today less than 65% of the Ecuadorians are Roman Catholic. The information of the Cia Fact Book is old and has to be updated. 50 years ago Ecuador had 95% of Roman Catholic population. The reality has changed dramatically.--122.161.160.91 (talk) 17:56, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

I'd be happy to let you add that back in if you cited a verifiable reliable source. Access Denied [FATAL ERROR] 17:58, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
This source cites the latest (2006)figures by diocese according to the Catholic church. The first three dioceses I checked were all still running well above 85%, Babahoyobut was 73%. All had indeed shown a fall in the last five (not fifty) years. The IP could add all the data up in a spreadsheet and source it to this source if he wanted (adding up isn't OR), but he's probably right that it is now below 95%. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 18:10, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

WP:DENY

Just to let you know, you should be careful about adding diffs like [1] to your user page as it's generally recommended to avoid feeding the trolls, and the comment in question was a particularly malicious personal attack / BLP violation and we should avoid bringing any further attention to it. A quick thought...

...Hi again, I interacted with you at WP:AN. Just wanted to say that I think the ban is a good idea. I don't think being biased against all IPs is. But on a more important note, after reviewing the vandal's activities thus far, the person/group appears to have no intention on stopping. His/her writing implies that s/he is educated and dedicated (s/he corrects his/her grammar at times). This shows me that this person will be a real pain for a while. Good luck on fighting a troll. P.S. My phone won't let me log on. I have an outdated browser or something. Once I get home, I'll join the anti-Zarapastroso fight. And while you're at it, read the section just above your incorrect warning to see what I have to face multiple times a day. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 00:00, 9 October 2010 (UTC) Fixed. Access Denied [FATAL ERROR] 00:03, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

That vandal

Thanks for helping with that vandal just now. One point, though: users are allowed to remove warnings from their talk pages - that's taken as meaning that they have read them, and of course they are still there in the history. You shouldn't revert a user on his own talk page, because it just leads to edit wars, and may inflame a situation unnecessarily (though that guy didn't need any inflaming!) Even IP users are allowed to remove warnings. There are only a few exceptions - the policy is at WP:BLANKING. It's not really a good idea to taunt someone on his user page after he's been blocked, either, however much he deserves it. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 16:23, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Ack!

I just looked at the diff to your monobook.css and it somehow looks like I copied my entire vector.css into your monobook.css?! I certainly didn't mean to do that, and I have no idea how that happened. I see you fixed it, but either way, I hope the #content a.external, #bodyContent a.external fix helps. If you're looking to change more CSS, I'd be glad to help, hopefully without insane things like whatever just happened happening. :) {{Nihiltres|talk|edits|}} 18:39, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Geolocation of IP

Hi Access Denied,

I wanted to touch base with you about this edit. I really appreciate you getting involved and doing some leg work on this. In this particular case, though, I think your conclusion wasn't exactly on target. Just to be sure, I had a couple of other people look at the results, and they seem to agree with me.

We started with cqcounter, which is one of the more dependable resources for this. It traces back to Windermere, FL. The "MCO" designation in the ISP address is a reference to Orlando Base, which makes more sense with Windermere than Atlanta. At least one of our staff members also got Atlanta intially though, so we think that one or more of the tracking tools are just misreading the results.

Anyway, thanks for jumping in. Much appreciated. This isn't in any way a criticism, but an explanation of why I went with my own results over yours. Philippe Beaudette, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 04:27, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
