Oakland Police Department

edit

Thank you very much for your observations and suggestions, and for your patience with my attempts at editing while I am still in the process of familiarizing myself with this platform.

Hi, thanks for your additions to Oakland Police Department - I can tell this is a topic you care about improving, and it's appreciated. However, I need to ask you to please not remove maintenance tags such as "better source needed." Those tags are useful because they allow other editors to find and improve the article. They really shouldn't be removed unless you are in fact supplying a better source. In general, a bare phrase like "FBI records" or a book title is not a great source. Surely some of your additions can be backed up by online sources? Also, please don't put "Source:" at the beginning of a citation, as it's unnecessary and non-standard. Your sources should also be put into proper reference format, instead of appearing in parentheses in the article's text.

I don't mean to discourage your contributions - as I said, your work is appreciated. I'd just like to cut down on unnecessary work for other editors, as you should be the one making sure your content is pretty much in line with Wikipedia's Manual of Style. If I can help with anything, just let me know. Thanks. Jessicapierce (talk) 01:12, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
