Help me!

How can I stop Wikipedia from automatically linking to the wrong page when I edit something? I was editing a page that included the names of football players and for two of the entries Wikipedia automatically included links to pages about people with the same names but they are incorrect as the people I am writing about do not have Wikipedia pages about them. Is there a way to tell Wikipedia not to automatically include a link?

Hi AMoteOfDust, when linking to a persons correct page and there is more than one person with that name. You need to include all the name as per their article. Example is Tyler Boyd, if I was to write [[Tyler Boyd]] it would take me to the Disambiguation page. Instead I would write it as [[Tyler Boyd (soccer)|Tyler Boyd]] so it links to the right article but by using the | and writing how I want the name to appear in the article. Thanks for your reply NZFC. The issue is not that there is more than one Wikipedia page, it is that there is one Wikipedia page but it is for the wrong person (i.e. there is no Wikipedia page for the players in question). Sure, in that case you're best to just not link the person so they stay as black writing. So use no [ instead. If you think the person will get an article written about them, then you can link to them as above using piping, but make a new identifier for them. Say what they are known for or if a few are known for it such as in football. Then the year they are born. This will then create a red link to them for when it is created in future.
