CSD declined
Hi,
Just to let you know, I declined your speedy deletion nomination on Dr. Vinod Agrawal since the article wasn't unambiguous enough for G11 and gives some indications that the subject may be significant (first to perform a certain type of surgery in India). If you still feel the article warrants deletion (which it may; I only checked against CSD criteria), then feel free to nominate the article for deletion via PROD or AfD.
Thanks, Ks0stm (T•C•G•E) 18:22, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
- I also declined Hopscotch India for the same general reasons. Ks0stm (T•C•G•E) 19:03, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Ks0stm, thanks for your message and for double checking. As suggested by you, I will check the pages again and see if I need to take it to AfD. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 13:49, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear AKS.9955, I hope all is well. I hope it is OK to ask you to have another look at the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Valery Shmukler. I think, by my understanding of WP:Prof, he would clearly seem to pass our notability requirement and that we should be thinking of editing the article and sourcing rather than deletion. Could you reconsider your nomination for deletion? Feel free to ignore this and best wishes anyway (Msrasnw (talk) 16:55, 11 December 2015 (UTC))
- Hello Msrasnw, the article has been voted as keep and hence you don't need to worry now. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 13:51, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- No worries - I was just letting you know that it might be worth your while having another look. The logic being, it is often better, I think, for the nominator and avoids others spending time looking things up, to withdraw a nomination if it becomes apparent that something is worth keeping. Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 14:29, 17 December 2015 (UTC))

Hi Arun, I decided to promote Vijay Mallya to GA status. It may take time but promoting any article to GA status is always a good achievement as an editor. While searching images of Vijay Mallya I found one of your photo with him. File:With Vijay Mallya.jpg. It is good thing that you got opportunity to click photo with Vijay Mallya. If you are interested then I wanted your help to promote his article to GA status. If 2 editors collaborate then it becomes easy job. Hope you will reply whenever you will be online. Apparently I come out mysteriously sometimes.
It was a long time ago, in May 2015, and you have probably forgotten all about it, but in this edit you said that I "come out mysteriously sometimes and in this case came out after 4 days, did some random edits and ended day with these two pages precisely with complete knowledge of the subject". I have been editing Wikipedia very regularly for years. I only created an account because I couldn't edit from my local library, as its IP address is blocked, and I never use this account except when I am in the library. Since almost all of my editing is done at home, that means I use this account only rarely. So there: it isn't so mysterious after all. The king of the sun (talk) 16:19, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Jehangir26
Hi AKS The changes I made were bona-fide because of the genre under which they appear, that is, religion, and as a result warrant respect and reverence. For example, the use of the term "text" is inappropriate because of its wider and literal connotations with the ordinary meaning of the word text, such as found in a manuscript. In its place, I substituted it with "scripture", which is more appropriate, meaningful, holy and scared of its true being, that is Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji [SGGSJ]. To the Sikhs SGGSJ is the word of God and is divine and not an ordinary text per se. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jehangir26 (talk • contribs) 16:27, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Recent edits to the article on Gladstone Bag
Hello.
You sent me a message today about my edits to the page about Gladstone Bag I'm new to Wikipedia and this is the only way I've found to write to you, I hope it's ok.
The reason why I didn't put any citations to my edit is that there are none to be cited: the sitcom I was referring to is an immensely popular British sitcom made in 1971, and the Gladstone Bag I was talking about is in clear view in many episodes (in the opening credits) of the series, and in the actual episodes as well, every time the character of Dr Upton goes somewhere on medical duty.

BLP issues
AKS, you've been here too long to be templated. But do note that you need to be careful what information you add to a BLP. Religion, in particular, needs a high standard of sourcing and 'raised as roman catholic' in an article from 1998 is definitely not enough to declare someone roman catholic. Religion is a personal thing and we have to respect that. --regentspark (comment) 21:06, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hello regentspark, I just left a message on your talkpage. Are you trying to tell me that a reference from The New York Times is NOT high standard of sourcing BUT the article reading his religion with a "citation needed" tag is "high standard"????????? PLEASE tell me that I understood this incorrectly. If I have not, then I recommend that you rollback your changes, else I will straight take this to ANI (not a threat but a friendly advice). Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 21:12, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
- Sure. Take it to ANI. Do note that whatever you were "raised as" does not mean you are the same thing now. But, be my guest. --regentspark (comment) 21:26, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
- @RegentsPark:, Thanks for the advice. Did that here. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 21:36, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
- @RegentsPark:, and I know that "raising" can different from what one is now. However, thats NOT the point. The point is that you were reverting an edit with a very credible source (The New York Times) to something which had a "citation needed tag". Have a good night. 21:39, 26 May 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Page Move
Hi! I have been off editing for a long time now, so apologies for possible non-adherence to Wiki policies, and the fact that my own knowledge of these seem to be pretty antiquated now. I write regarding the move of the page Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi to Indian Institute of Technology, BHU that you executed on 13 June 2015. This clearly does not conform with the accepted name of the Institute, and I would request you to undo the move. Look forward to hearing from you. Shobhit102 | talk 04:35, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Shobhit102, although commonly referred to, but the institute's official name is IIT, BHU. Name of the city is not a part of the institute's name unlike it's counterparts IIT Mumbai etc which stand in a standalone campus. However, all the name combinations with city suffix have been redirected to the existing page. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 05:36, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply Arun Kumar SINGH . While it is generally referred to as IIT-BHU, in line with the fact that it used to be known as IT-BHU prior to its conversion, the official name does in fact include the name of the city. If you could kindly take a look at the official gazette notification of the Government of India citing its conversion, this is clearly borne out. Here is the link: http://www.iitbhu.ac.in/institute/images/imp_circulars/IIT-Amendment-Act-2012.pdf. It is also clearly present on the Institute website and the seal. In addition, please take a look at this talk page discussion regarding its move that I originally requested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Indian_Institute_of_Technology,_BHU#Requested_move_2. I hope consesnsus can be reached on this front. Thank you! Shobhit102 | talk 17:12, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

AFD Closure
Hi AKS.9955, Would you revert your closure at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Speedy (musician) - I don't see any consensus to Keep and AFDs are closed based on the strong arguments, not how many Keeps or deletes there are, Thanks :) –Davey2010Talk 10:12, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Davey2010, sorry, did I misunderstand that in AfD discussions, votes are not counted and instead arguments are considered? I am sorry if I erred, kindly clarify. Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 10:15, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hi AKS.9955, Yep that's correct :), AFDs should never ever be closed based on how many Keeps there are (If every !vote was keep then it could be closed per SNOW however I said delete and a few had said merge and one keep !voter went with redirect, I personally think it needs to be closed by an admin, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 10:19, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Davey2010, Just a clarification, there were four clear keeps by Arxiloxos, DivaKnockouts, NewYorkActuary and by Fieari. One of the redirects was for redirecting the song to this article. No one (apart from the nominator) stood by delete. Should we ask for administrator intervention, WP:3 or go for 3rd AfD nomination? Help me understand please. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 10:47, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- There was 3 keeps and 3 redirects (myself included), We could either go to WP:DRV or you could just reopen and relist it for another week ?, Going to DRV would like mean after a week it'll be reopened anyway so IMHO the bestest choice is to just reopen and relist, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 15:36, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Davey2010, I agree with you. Please take it to DRV. Thanks for your understanding. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 16:06, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
Well technically the closure is improper as you've admitted right above you only closed based on numbers and not arguments... Aslam Azad
My dear AKS, Recently you have tagged "deletion policy" on the page Aslam Azad. I am wonder to see that this person is well notable in Sindh and symbol of courage. I have also added references for the citation of the content, where you may look the top leading newspaper of Pakistan Daily Dawn is reporting about him as following: "Speakers paid tributes to writer and social activist Dr Aslam Azad Khwaja at a gathering held at Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium here on Saturday evening. A road accident in 1991 left Dr Azad disabled, but since then he lives courageously and continues his writing and other work on wheel chair. A large number of writers, poets and political and social welfare activists attended the programme. Renowned writer Inam Shaikh said that despite physical disability Dr Azad had a healthy mind and never allowed his impairment to discourage him. He said a number of writers, youths and activists visited and consulted him on different issues. Renowned poet Dr Akash Ansari said Dr Azad symbolised the courage and described him a role model for youth, especially in lower Sindh. He loves his land, which reflects from his poetry." Please read here the report. I am really thankful to you, if you may let this profile on wiki. regards Indusian — Preceding unsigned comment added by Indusian1236 (talk • contribs) 07:50, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

AfD closure
A question regarding your non-admin cloure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deewana (TV series) as "keep" - why did you deem it necessary to do that, two hours after the discussion had been relisted to make it possible to reach a consensus? Non-admin closures are appropriate in cases where there is an uncontroversial closing rationale; that this discussion had only just been relisted a couple of hours previously indicates that there was no such unanimity. Regarding your closing outcome: there has been discussion with policy based arguments in both directions, and a simple "keep" with no motivation is odd for that reason as well - an AfD closure where there are actual arguments based on policy to keep as well as to delete is not an uncontroversial close. Wikipedia:Non-admin closure specifies that a non-admin can close an AfD as "keep" absent any contentious debate among participants, i.e. not the situation here. A "no consensus" closure might have been appropriate - but again, why do that when the discussion has just been relisted in order to reach consensus? There is no deadline here. --bonadea contributions talk 11:15, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
Looking at your recent contributions, I see that you did much the same thing at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wayne Woodward - it had been relisted a few hours previously, and I don't understand your comment "Merge / redirect to be discussed on article TalkPage." - nobody had suggested that, and both "merge" and "redirect" are common and reasonable outcomes of AfD debates, which do not have to be further discussed on the talk page of the article under discussion. --bonadea contributions talk 11:20, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
Hi again, The consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wayne Woodward is to redirect ?, AFD closers can and do close as merge/redirect - If it wasn't physically allowed I (and thousands of others) would visit the TP, So could you either relist or close it as Redirect please ?, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:08, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)@Davey2010: This is mere speculation on my part, but I wonder if AKS.9955 may have misinterpreted the comment "whether to merge content is generally resolved via talkpage discussion rather than XfD" at Wikipedia:Deletion_review#Speedy_.28musician.29_.28closed.29 to mean that XfDs are not supposed to have "redirect" as their outcome? Because (addressing AKS.9955 here) that is not how it is. Most redirect discussions are carried out on articles' talk pages, and an XfD shouldn't be opened when the nominator wants the article to be redirected, but that does not mean that XfD discussions cannot end in a consensus to redirect an article, if the participants in the discussion think that is a reasonable outcome. And where there is such a consensus, the AfD is not closed as "keep", as Davey2010 points out (and as I mentioned in the previous section). In any case, and as I also said before, it was a bit premature to close the discussion when it had literally just been relisted a few hours previously. --bonadea contributions talk 15:07, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- Bonadea - Personally I think you're correct - I think they seem to believe Merge/Redirects should happen on the tp and that's it which as you point out is completely incorrect,
- AKS - If the nom wants to actually redirect or merge something then 9 times out of 10 it'll either be Redirected/merged or Speedy Kept (depending on the person closing), However if participants in the AFD go with redirect/merge whilst the nom only states delete then you're meant to follow it through with that outcome (Redirect in this case), As an aside technically you shouldn't of closed the Wanye W AFD so early (It should've been relisted) however Redirect is always perferred over deletion, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 15:41, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Bonadea and Davey2010. I agree with you guys. Must admit, I am fairly new to non-admin closures and this is just a process of learning. Yes, I did miss noticing the relisting. As far as the merge / redirect is concerned and as Bonadea observed correctly, yes, I perhaps did not fully understand the spirit behind what was written here. I am combining two discussions (in my talkpage) since they are for same subject. Let me know how to proceed further and I will follow it precisely. Thanks for your time and observation. - Hi AKKS, No worries we all make mistakes :), Many many new closers make mistakes it's all apart of learning :), The best thing to do would be just to reopen and reclose the Wanye W AFD as Redirect, I admit I did probably get the Speedy one wrong however in this case this one is an obvious one :), Thanks for replying, –Davey2010Talk 16:23, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- Just a heads up - I've reverted your closure at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wayne Woodward as in this case there wasn't any consensus to keep, AFDs can and should be closed as Redirect/Merge if that's the outcome, This isn't a threat but actions like today could see you at the WP:Great Dismal Swamp which is the last resort for anyone, Anyway thanks & Happy editing, –Davey2010Talk 19:09, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Bonadea and Davey2010. Since you have already reverted the edit, I am taking no further action. Will watch out in the future. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 15:16, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
- No worries, Happy editing. –Davey2010Talk 15:54, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Hello and thanks for contributing, I simply wanted to note you sincerely should reconsider closing this one because it could still use additional insight especially given the current BLP questionability and relist it instead. SwisterTwister talk 03:46, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello SwisterTwister talk, not one person (apart from nominator) supported the AfD. Furthermore, the AfD discussion clearly demonstrated how the subject passed PORNBIO by winning XRCO Unsung Swordsman. Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 04:58, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
- I noticed but because of the BLP concerning particularly involving the subject, I believed at best it could've at least been relisted another week. To be honest, I intended to vote earlier and was going to until you closed it. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 05:00, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
- Then let it got for 2nd nomination. On a different note, check this. Can you give this a look and see if you have any clue what to do with this? I was tempted to perform a non-admin closure but held myself back. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 05:03, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
