Applications is the process by which Wikipedia editors are admitted to the Mediation Committee and become Mediators.
You will be required to demonstrate an aptitude for resolving complex disputes or problems. The community trusts in the Formal Mediation process to resolve intractable disputes, so you will need to demonstrate that you meet the standards of quality and experience required of a mediator.
While you are required to demonstrate that you hold the community's trust, your application is not community vote; only existing mediators vote. However, non-mediators can provide comment and ask questions – indeed, they are welcomed to do so. You should be prepared for scrutiny and questions by any member of the community.
Applications generally remain open for 14 days.
