Election candidates
editHi, I notice you added some candidates standing for the UK general election. Is there an official announcement somewhere? Thanks, and keep up the good edits :) --h2g2bob (talk) 23:43, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Re: Craig
editOn my talk page you asked how to start a page for Sid Cordle. This page Wikipedia:Your first article should tell you what you need but please seek advice if you do have questions (and others are better able than I to help). Nedrutland (talk) 19:53, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Your recent edits
editHello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:55, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Sid Cordle
editHi, I have no objections to you restarting a page on Sid Cordle, as there does seem to be enough independent newspaper coverage of him now. If you are more cautious you can start with a draft at draft:Sid Cordle. Usually before elections there is a push to get candidates included, but we have not counted being a candidate for an election as a claim of importance. But with other coverage that shows the topic is notable without candidacy the article can make a start. Remember to base what you write on what has been published before. Pictures
editHi, thanks for the question! The best place to upload images is on Wikimedia Commons, which is run by the same charity as Wikipedia. There should be no need to log in there, it automatically uses your Wikipedia login.
A brief bit of background - Wikipedia is a free content encyclopaedia: anyone can re-use the text, even commercially (eg: you can print a "Book of Wikipedia" and sell it). The same applies to most images, including all images of living people. This is why images of people on Wikipedia sometimes look a bit amateur. To upload an image you will need to have taken the photo yourself, and then you give permission for others to use it.
You can only add images to pages once they're uploaded to Wikipedia or Wkimedia Commons. You can add an image to a page like this: "[[File:Brian Donohoe.jpg|thumb|Some text here]]" (replacing "Brian Donohoe.jpg" with the name of the image - case sensitive). Some pages have a template where you can fill in an image name, eg: "|image = Brian Donohoe.jpg".
Wikipedia:Images has some tutorials on it too. --h2g2bob (talk) 00:27, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
