Just to let you know that you forgot to sign one of your comments at WT:F1. I have added a signuture for you using the format that sinebot uses. Remember that sinebot stops signing your signatures after a certain number of edits (I don't remember what this is but you appear to have reached it) If you find that you forget this often you might want to consider adding {{YesAutosign}} so that sinebot continues to autosign your comments if you forget.
Hey, thanks, I didn't know about WP:OFFICIAL. One of the other reasons my attention was drawn to the boldface was because WP:BOLDAVOID tells us to avoid placing links in the boldface iteration of the title. Not sure if it would also apply to official titles. I do have a question. I see a lot of boldface in sports article tables. Generally, boldface is only used in a few places on Wikipedia. Is there (and could you point me at if there is) a special formatting guideline for the WikiProject? PopularOutcasttalk2me! 15:46, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, honestly I don't know. I didn't realise your objection was to bolding links. I'm pretty new to Wikipedia, so for a lot of the pre-war articles I've been editing I've based the style on what was already there! But as far as official names go I know they are supposed to be bolded, and have redirects from them, so that's something I have been doing. But for whatever reason it seems very common for Grand Prix de L'Automomobile Club de France (which was how the race was officially known until 1967) to be linked to French Grand Prix, and bolded, but if you think the link shouldn't be bolded, I would suggest removing the link, not the bolding (since the official name is supposed to be bolded).A7V2 (talk) 23:37, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- Cool. There's so much to know about the manual of style and different areas have their own interpretations (and sometimes special dispensation). As for my objection to boldface links, removing the boldface took care of the link problem so I didn't add it as a reason to my edit. Since I didn't know the rule in WP:OFFICIAL, I thought MOS:BOLD applied there. I will let you take the link out if you like mostly because I think then that the lead needs to include the link somewhere. Perhaps link "Grand Prix motor race held at Le Mans" to the article "French Grand Prix". That would remove the more generic links and also avoid MOS:SOB. However, since I don't consume this type of article very often, my solution may not be the right one for the audience. I leave it to you. Thanks for teaching me something new. - Luckily French Grand Prix appeared in the prose in second paragraph so I've just linked it there (and removed the link from the bolded part, as even without the MOS it does look odd). I realise it might be a bit annoying not always having the link to the main article for the race near the top but there is at least almost always the link at the bottom in the infobox. I take your point about there being too many links, but I think it is approriate to link to the circuit where the race was held, and also to Grand Prix racing. Probably linking "motor race" is excessive though so I think I'll unlink that too. Thanks for bringing this to my attention though. As I pretty much only edit motor sport articles, I'll definitely keep this all in mind in my future editing. A7V2 (talk) 00:35, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
