March 2012 edit

You asked Chrisjnelson if he/she was the baseball player Chris Nelson, and got the answer "no". It was not helpful to then follow this up with another post which did not ask but simply presumed that he/she was another Chris Nelson you found in the news. IF Chrisjnelson wishes to reveal his/her real life identity then that is up to him/her, and you don't need to keep on pestering him/her. At least one editor has expressed concern over what you have been doing, describing it as "harassment". Another point is that the user is indefinitely blocked, and has user page access only for possible discussions relating to potential unblock, not for general chat about other matters. Whatever. If it bothered him, I would have respected his request to drop it. And if one editor has regarded it as harrassment, they can come to me. This is a bullshit way to handle an entirely innocent matter. 98.82.0.90 (talk) 01:01, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
As to the matter of his talk page being reserved for unblock requests, that is something that I did not understand until you brought it up, and I will honor it. I had thought about going back to his page one last time to proffer apologies for any emotional trauma my posts may have caused, but I see that he has excised my post from his talk page, so I will leave well-enough alone. But I still think if he had nothing to say, it is beyond ridiculous for me to get a dressing down for something not only minor, but not even ill-intentioned. 98.82.0.90 (talk) 01:04, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I don't really think it's that big a deal. Someone complained that you were harassing another user. I thought that "harassing" was exaggerating, but the fact that the user simply removed your second post without comment did suggest that he/she didn't want it, so I though it might be a good idea to suggest that you stop. I intended my note to be a friendly warning that what you were doing had been criticised, and that it might be better to drop it, not "a dressing down". It was really a fairly trivial incident, and I would suggest just forgetting it. JamesBWatson (talk) 08:27, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
