A Complete overhaul of this article is needed (Enrico Caruso Discography) edit

This article is a mess. It should be completely deleted and rewritten as a "proper" discography of Caruso's recordings in chronological order, complete with recording dates, matrix numbers, assisting artists and other such information. Since Caruso's recordings are now in the public domain, there are too many CD reissues to list. I would only include reissues from the original copyright holders (Sony/BMG/RCA and EMI) as well as a few issues from some of the more respected historic reissue labels (Naxos, Pearl).

I will be glad to undertake this task if others agree.

Dear editor,
For my money, what you propose would be very useful, and would be much better than the present article (Enrico Caruso Compact Disc discography), (click on the redlink to find the starting template) which is worthless because it does not say which versions of the recordings are in each set. However I would suggest that you should create a new page called 'Enrico Caruso Discography (originals)' and give it an introductory paragraph explaining that it is the discography of originals and not of transfers. Thus whatever has been done here can be argued over separately from your extremely useful contribution and will not contaminate it. Only by starting your own page de novo will you avoid having others muddling your work with the kind of stuff that is listed here. Concentrate only on the first versions: transfers of all kinds can be dealt with in other articles, and to do this you could just go straight ahead without reference to the present page. I hope you will do this (if you have access to the info) as I think it would be greatly useful. If you are going to undertake this, you will want to register a named User account as other editors will no doubt wish to post you on your User talk page, to which I will add a copy of this message. Your new article will need to cite sources for the information which you give. Eebahgum (talk) 01:35, 27 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
PS The Victor discography online [1] is already linked to the Enrico Caruso article: it may be undesirable/inappropriate simply to repeat all this in a wikipedia article. Of course there are other items not listed there. Obviously the present article needs overhauling: why not start a sandtray and draft your article in it, then offer the substitution? Simply create your User account (the work of a moment): and then create the page <nowiki>User:(username)/Sandtray and your work there will progress uninterrupted, and you can transfer it en bloc when ready.MZMcBride (talk) 17:35, 27 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
