Welcome! edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Youngblood Brass Band, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:48, 9 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Youngblood Brass Band edit

Hi IP 96.42.32.145. You posted at User talk:Explicit#Youngblood Brass band that the group meets multiple criteria of WP:NBAND. What you can do is explain your reasoning for each of these things at Talk:Youngblood Brass Band. If you are aware of WP:SIGCOV in reliable secondary and independent sources (as defined by Wikipedia) which support such claims, then providing links to them on the article's talk page will help other Wikipedia editors assess them. So, here's what I suggest you do.

First, create an WP:ACCOUNT. There's nothing wrong with you editing as an IP, but it does make your IP address visible and things might get confusing if another person starts editing from the same IP address or you switch to another IP address for some reason. By creating an account, you will always be able to log in under the same username from pretty much any computer. They only thing you need to be careful of is WP:IU. If you decide to use your WP:REALNAME as your username, consider getting your identify verified by Wikimedia OTRS. This will make it clear to everyone that you are you and not someone pretending to be you. This particularly can make things easier when their is actual content mentioning you by name in a Wikipedia article.

Next, declare any conflict of interest you might have as explained in WP:DECLARECOI. If you're directly associated with the band (e.g. member, management) you probably also need to comply with WP:PAID. It's very important that you be as transparent as possible about any connection you may have with the band. Even though Wikipedia doesn't expressly prohibit COI editing (it does, however, prohibit undeclared "paid" editing.), it is something that is highly discouraged and something that many editors extremely distrust. So, the more transparent you're about things, the less likely you're going to find yourself having problems with others.

Lastly, use the article's talk page to make edit requests for any changes you think should be made to the article. Please understand WP:42, WP:NOT and WP:OWN because any changes you suggest will be assessed on whether they are in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines and not whether they are what the band wants. For reference, the easiest edit requests to answer are one which are clearly worded (e.g. change A to B), but don't try to request to many things at once (see WP:TLDR); moreover, any claims being made are going to need to be provided with a means of verification. Don't just request something without providing some link or other information about a source that can be verified. When you want to make a request, it's also helpful to use Template:Request edit and follow the instructions given in WP:PSCOI#Steps for engagement.

If you have any questions about the above, you can ask them below, at the Wikipedia:Teahouse or at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. Good luck. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:39, 9 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
