Pasting text

edit

Please stop copying text from the article body and pasting it into the lead section. Per WP:LEAD, the lead section is supposed to be a summary of article body text, not a duplication. You are introducing redundancy, giving the reader a poor experience. Binksternet (talk) 20:53, 19 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I have taken that on board and will stop doing that. 88.111.139.176 (talk) 12:42, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Then explain this edit, which you made just two hours later. Binksternet (talk) 16:44, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I barely did anything...all I did was just put it in the usual order for album articles on Wiki (1st paragraph: name and release 2nd paragraph: performance and review 3rd paragraph: how many total records and certifications) I also didn't add any new info at all. 88.111.139.176 (talk) 17:01, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Thriller (Michael Jackson album). Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 04:09, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I understand what you have said and will not make the same mistake. 88.111.139.176 (talk) 14:41, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm CASSIOPEIA. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Layne Staley, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 15:29, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Nate Dogg. Stop pasting text from the article body into the lead section. Binksternet (talk) 15:51, 21 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Genuinely, I would like to know why moving a sentence to the lead is considered disruptive. 88.111.139.176 (talk) 16:11, 21 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
