June 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Steven Pinker, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This is particularly important when adding or changing any facts or figures and helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.   Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Steven Pinker. Thank you. Bgpaulus (talk) 19:33, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

How is my posting controversial Bgpaulus? If anything Steven Pinker's comments are controversial! Read and listen to them.

Please stop adding unreferenced controversial biographical content to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Steven Pinker. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Any unreferenced, vaguely-worded material added to a biography of a living person is potentially controversial and, therefore, should be removed immediately. In my opinion (and, apparently, in the opinion of at least one other editor -- User:N-k), the statement you've added four times over the last 24 hours falls into that category. If truly "many consider him to be" something, then you should have no trouble providing at least one (if not more) verifiable reliable source to support your edit. Otherwise, you're simply stating your own opinion which, per this and this, also won't fly. I suggest you also read this and this for advice how you might be able to re-phrase your edit. Thanks and best regards. -- Bgpaulus (talk) 21:15, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours to prevent further disruption caused by your engagement in an edit war. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.
