Welcome! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, such as the ones you made to Talk:Back to the Future. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

You "MINDERS" are the reason I no longer contribute to Wikipedia. Give me an example of what you're on about. I see no reason for this, and I have violated no rules. This is what happens when children run the store. 73.6.96.168 (talk) 08:16, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. 331dot (talk) 08:42, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

If you make another request, please only put it in the larger edit window; the smaller window is for a section header or edit summary. Please click "edit" instead of "new section" to create your request, to avoid creating unnecessary section headers. 331dot (talk) 08:42, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you disrupt this page further, I will extend the block and remove talk page access. If you want to request unblock, please make a proper request. 331dot (talk) 09:00, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

August 2020 edit

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Meredith effect are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines, not for general discussion about the topic or unrelated topics, or statements based on your thoughts or feelings. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. I'm a former NASA engineer. Do you really want me to prove that this article is based on nonsense? Because I can. I don't want to. I'm retired and have a very good life. But if you're going to insist that I prove this wrong, I will. Thank you and Good Night. 73.6.96.168 (talk) 21:07, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
All you have to do is cite reliable published sources that back up your assertions. That's it. As an engineer, you should have no trouble finding such sources. If you need help citing them in the article, we'll be happy to help you do that, within reason. BilCat (talk) 21:16, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
The fact is that the the person making the original assertion needs to prove it. I'm pretty sure that's required by Wikipedia. I can find no reliable source other than Atwood's claims to prove this "effect" is real at low mach numbers. Again, all we have here is an author making claims about the P-51 use of the "Meredith Effect", when all the sources I can find say that it does NOT produce ANY net thrust at airspeeds below .7 mach. And that's essentially what I said. The P-51 is not even close to that speed, and it's an entirely different effect when airspeed approaches mach 1.0, as in a ram-jet. At mach .5 there is ZERO net thrust, and below that speed, it's drag and actually slows the aircraft down a bit.
https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/12981/how-much-thrust-was-provided-by-a-typical-meredith-effect-radiator. I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this, because it's been my experience that once an editor here makes up his/her mind, then it tends to stay that way. I tried. Cheers. 73.6.96.168 (talk) 13:47, 26 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

December 2020 edit

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Your comments are confrontational and disruptive. This is a collaborative environment where we work together, not make demands on each other. 331dot (talk) 08:25, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I disagree with you completely. There is nothing disruptive about the Talk Page edits I have made recently. If you continue to harass me, I will be reporting this to more senior persons at WP. I have demanded nothing. I have ASKED that improvements and edits be made to articles that are sub-par and below standards for an encyclopedia. I believe your remark is biased and untrue. If you're going to accuse me of being "disruptive" - at least provide a concrete example of what you're on about. Cheers. 73.6.96.168 (talk) 13:05, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Communication with you is not harassment. There is not "more senior" people here, but WP:ANI is available if you wish. The articles you have commented on are not protected from editing so "someone edit the article" comes off to others as a demand. 331dot (talk) 13:58, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Again, unless you can give me an example of the article I "disrupted", and how - I have no idea what you're on about. REPEATED false / ambiguous claims do nothing to bolster your cause, and in my view it amounts to harassment since it was aimed at me personally, and was unsolicited. When you say: "comes off to others as a demand" (opinion on your part), and incorrectly paraphrase my comment out of context, then I believe you are being argumentative, capricious and frankly, just rude. I demand NOTHING of anyone here. I merely pointed out that a few article sections were either incorrect or seriously in need of improvement. PLEASE CITE the article in question or link to it so that I may have a chance to review the evidence. Was that polite enough? 73.6.96.168 (talk) 19:24, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
This comment is not of a collaborative nature and condescending(as is "was that polite enough"). I came here in response to an email from another editor. "Someone needs to edit this article" can seem like a demand to others(especially when the article is not protected and open to all edits). If you didn't mean it that way, okay. 331dot (talk) 20:43, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
No, I did not mean it to be pushy or demanding at all. That's the way I talk normally. I will try to phrase suggestions in a less forceful tone in the future. All I really meant is that I hoped that someone other than myself could/would do it - I've received a lot of grief over some of my edits in the past, so I finally gave up editing. I don't even really know the difference between a protected page and one that isn't. No harm intended. Cheers. 73.6.96.168 (talk) 00:43, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
And as a final note on that Zodiac article - I was attempting to inject a little humor into what appeared to be a tense section. I will avoid that also in the future. I had no idea that people were sensitive to this degree. I know now, so I'll just stay off the talk pages. Cheers. 73.6.96.168 (talk) 00:47, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate your consideration, not for me, but for the project. Talk page use is sometimes necessary, but just keep in mind that humor and tone are difficult to convey with text communication, especially cross-cultural amongst the varied people who participate here. Thanks 331dot (talk) 00:53, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

October 2021 edit

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Talk:Top Gun: Maverick. Your edits appear to be disruptive.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges.

Do not add non-sequitur interjections mid-stream in other discussion threads on talk pages. If you have a new topic about the article then start a new section for it, rather than tack it on to sections that do not have anything to do what you are posting about.

Additionally - the proper location to request (or in your case - wrongfully demand) that an article be removed is in WP:AFD, not through scatterbrained & unfounded rantings, randomly peppered throughout a talk page.

Lastly, even in talk pages - do not introduce deliberate factual errors & make claims about article topics which are flatly false.

Remember - just because you cannot see something does not mean that it does not exist. I cannot see you. I cannot see your username. But - clearly, and unfortunately you do in fact exist. Since you didn't cite any examples, I don't know what you're talking about. However, in reviewing your history here, it's clear that I just need to go ahead and open a complaint on you for harassment. BTW: What theater is 'Top Gun 2' playing in? When was it released? And if you're going to call me a liar, prove anything I said was false. Cheers. 73.6.96.168 (talk) 08:15, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I did indicate which talk page you edited another user's comments on, and I did cite two different articles regarding the policies for talk page usage. Simply reviewing those policy pages, and then reviewing your own edit or the one I made on the talk page would give your example. It is not on others to keep you abreast of the edits you made... that's on you.
As far as complaining - go ahead, it seems you are good at it. But me advising you of improper talk page usage on one page, and reverting your re-factoring the comments of another user on a different talk page (and consequently notifying you of it) hardly constitutes harassment. But whatever floats your canoe.
As for TG:M, you do realize that a movie doesn't have to be in a theatre in order to exist, right? If you think otherwise - then there are tens of thousands of direct-to-disc releases that supposedly do not exist, and hundreds more movies which are "in the can" that do not exist, either. You know that some movies actually do sit in the can, on a shelf for months or even years before being released, right? Again - that doesn't mean that they do not exist... it simply means that they are not yet released. Just a slight difference there between non-existence and un-released. But - you seem to be ignoring that outright, and just want to go straight for the jugular in claiming that they flatly do not exist and their pages should be wiped from the web. Well - again, whatever floats your canoe. Go ahead and open a WP:AFD for all the un-released movies you think have caused you distress, and have put WP's integrity in jeopardy. And please keep us all in the loop when you do that - cause we are all gonna enjoy watching that exchange. lol. Picard's Facepalm (talk) 15:14, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
See your talk page for my final word on this matter. Dude, you need to chill or grow up or whatever. But you have been warned. Last time. 73.6.96.168 (talk) 05:48, 15 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
