How to remove the proposed deletion of my page

edit

Dear Administrator,

I'm going to improve my page, but I'm confused with your comments:

'Almost all references are written by the subject; number 3 is an article related to his interests. Refs 20 and 21 are faculty lists. None of the references discusses the subject.'

I understand for references 20 and 21, I could remove them. And what do you mean by 'almost all references are written by the subject'? Does it mean I need to add some others references? And for 'number 3 is an article related to his interests', what should I do to modify this reference? should I just delete it?

As I understand, if I add some independent references on this page, the deletion could be removed, am I right?

Thanks a lot for your help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zzjhaas (talkcontribs) 16:10, 26 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Nothing personal against you, Dr. Haas. I just ran across the article randomly and noticed that a lot of the inline references were papers by you. From what I have read, references written by the subject do not contribute to notability. However, I asked at the Help Desk if what I did was ok... and the responses from seasoned editors was that you are very likely notable even though the refs did not do a great job of showing it (except for one ref). WP likes references about the subject (which talk about the subject in depth) to show notability.
In any case, at the Help Desk, one editor wanted to remove the proposed deletion tag (it could have been put up for a review in a different way). I thanked them for their time and I said I was fine with removing the proposed deletion tag. I said that I would not re-nominate the article for deletion, since the experienced editors were OK with it. (I think they said it was a bit thinly sourced but that it wasn't too bad.) So if the Prod tag is gone, then the article will stay and we don't need to do anything. (If you want, you certainly could add some independent, reliable references that talk about you.) Thanks. 73.127.147.187 (talk) 04:42, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot for your help. I have improved the page according to some of your suggestions. Could you tell me when will this PROD be canceled?

A kitten for you!

edit

Thank you for the catch on "copyrighted" over "copywritten." Here, have a "copy-kitten."

Th78blue (talk) 15:25, 3 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Aw, a copy-kitten! How cute? (But, are we using the right kind of dash?) 73.127.147.187 (talk) 03:32, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
A hyphen? Yes I believe that would be correct then. It is connecting to distinct words, the correct use then is a hyphen. See my talk page, I regularly correct hyphens, en dashes, and em dashes which are incorrectly used in various spots. Th78blue (talk) 12:49, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I meant "How cute!" Can't win... 73.127.147.187 (talk) 03:32, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Th78blue Do you get pinged for these? 73.127.147.187 (talk) 03:33, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I was not 'pinged' until this last one when you "@" my name. Thanks. Th78blue (talk) 12:50, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Th78blue, I wasn't sure if the new "reply" button would ping the "replyee". I'll use the handy icon that makes a ping easier. 73.127.147.187 (talk) 05:09, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@73.127.147.187 Yup! Sounds good. I actually was not aware of that button myself. Th78blue (talk) 12:03, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, @Th78blue. I have a few edits, as you can see. I'll make an account soon (I'm not concerned about my IP address being visible... people can find the city of 100,000 that I live in, but no one knows my name, and even if someone found me, I am not concerned.) Thanks again for the welcome! 73.127.147.187 (talk) 05:17, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
No one knows my name either.   I just think it lets you build a "reputation" as well as earn permissions etc. over time, so might be something to consider. You can remain anonymous either way with or without the IP address of course if that is your desire. Th78blue (talk) 12:03, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Th78blue... I plan to create an account; I just haven't been motivated. 73.127.147.187 (talk) 04:27, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I understand. Well I think you should!   Th78blue (talk) 11:54, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Strikethrough

edit

(Just a note following Special:Diff/1085599651/next): When you want to strikethrough something, you can use <s>text to strikethrough</s>, <del>text to strike through</del>, or <span style="text-decoration:line-through">text to strike through</span>. All three have identical outputs:
text to strikethrough
text to strike through
text to strike through

Hope this helps, Victor Schmidt (talk) 12:59, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ah, it's "del" or "s" in html. Thank you. I can probably remember "del". I wish it was next to the italic symbol or sonething, but this is simple enough. 73.127.147.187 (talk) 04:12, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
