Image Tagging Image:WarriorSoulcover.jpg edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:WarriorSoulcover.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Flying Canuck 16:30, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:KILLING CHE (COVER).jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:KILLING CHE (COVER).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Non-free rationale for File:WarriorSoulcover.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:WarriorSoulcover.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:49, 28 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

August 2014 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of Navy SEALs may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • of the New York Times bestseller SEAL Target Geronimo, Inside The Mission to Kill Osama Bin Laden],''[[Warrior Soul (book)|Warrior Soul]]'' and the reality-thriller ''[[Killing Ché]]''. BUD/S Class

Unspecified source/license for File:Chuck Pfarrer.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading File:Chuck Pfarrer.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

SEALs in Lebanon edit

666163,

Up front, I'll point out that your edit history suggests that you're Chuck Pfarrer. If this is in fact the case then I'd let you know that you are editing from a point of understanding that probably outstrips most editors here. I'd also say that, for good or ill, it doesn't matter.

We have to be able to cite specific reliable sources for an assertion we make here. Your material concerning Team activities in Lebanon hasn't meet that threshold. If you know more about this topic than I do and you genuinely want to add truthful material to this site on the topic then I want to help you. Let me know via either my talk page or my email and I'll do what I can. Just understand, truth is not our litmus for inclusion here. GraniteSand (talk) 05:24, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey Granite,

Thank you kindly for keeping such a close eye on the page. I can pass on from the SEAL community that we appreciate that the article is the place to go for for accurate, historical, and verified information. I am Chuck, as you guessed. The 31st anniversary of the Beirut Marine Corps bombing is coming up this month, and I wanted to put into the Wikki history some facts about ST-4s deployment to Lebanon-- which was the first NAVSPECWAR combat since Viet Nam. I would like also to comply with the high standards of the page, and would be extremely thankful for any help you might have the time to give. The incidents I described are mentioned in two of my books, Warrior Soul, and SEAL Target Geronimo. I helped to write and Edit SEAL Team Four's Official Combat History of the Deployment, as well as authoring the AAR of Fifth Platoon following several of the major incidents. Forgive me for including web references, but they indicate that the units I am writing about were (definitely) in combat during the time period mentioned. You can see that the list of navy units who have (ever) earned the Combat Action Ribbon (the highest ranking ribbon in the US Military) is quite small. SEAL FOUR and NAVSPECWAR Unit Tango are included.

I would like very much to work to make the section satisfactory to your standards. Please tell me how I might comply, and I will work hard to make it happen. Thanks again Granite Sand, absolutely no hard feeling here. And thanks again for your time and vigilance. VR Chuck

PS. I can personally verify that each of the assertions in the subsection are true-- and also that the picture of the holiday in-- one of the most photographed buildings in the Root, are also my own. Also, CAPT Mike Howard, the Director of the SEAL Museum in Ft Pierce is a personal friend and can verify me and my deployments. Thank you again, Best, C

Granite, waiting to engage with you so I may re-contribute on the Lebanon topic. I'd appreciate hearing from you before I try to repost. I don't wish to get in a delete game, Thanks

Oct 11// No joy on contact. I am going to put forward the historical facts as they are known to me. Thanks.
