Talk:Main Page edit

Hi! I archived the post about the featured article because:

  • At this point there's nothing we can do about the current featured article: it's been selected, and it's not going to be changed until it's run for 24 hours (not long to go now!)
  • Talk:Main Page is not the correct place to discuss future featured articles - I did provide a link when I archived the discussion, so that interested editors such as yourself would be able to participate in the featured article process.

Hope that helps! Welcome to Wikipedia, and I do hope you'll get involved - not just in helping pick featured articles, but in other areas too.

Happy editing! TFOWR 19:01, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you have a concern about the articles selected, go to WP:TFA/R as requested. It is not restricted to discussion of fututre articles on the main page, but also for retrospective concerns. If you keep up this constant reversion/edit war, it is very likely you will be reported and blocked. Cheers, Melicans (talk, contributions) 19:23, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

July 2010 edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Talk:Main Page. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. You have been reverted by several editors now. I am terming your continued insistence vandalism and a potential violation of our Three-Revert-Rule. I highly suggest discussing issues on the pages you have been directed to. Otherwise you are likely to be blocked for edit warring. N419BH 19:21, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

There's an open thread on Talk:Main Page about just that. This post is a cheap crack at the volunteers who select - from a limited pool of available articles - the featured article. You could, you know, get involved - either with improving articles so that there's a wider range to choose from, or in the actual selection process. Constantly reverting isn't helping in anyway - it suggests a failure to read and understand what you're being told. TFOWR 19:23, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

You have been blocked from editing for a short time to prevent further disruption caused by your engagement in an edit war. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|your reason here}}. Elockid (Talk) 19:46, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I will leave my previous edit that was marked for an archive alone, but I still want to discuss why so many articles about video games are given FA status, and I promise to be nice and not edit war

Decline reason:

There's nothing to discuss - it all has to do with how they are written, see WP:FA. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:41, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
