November 2022 edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Kirk Douglas, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. None of the cited sources say anything about his parents being Lithuanian. The were from Belarus. General Ization Talk 04:54, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Douglas' parents were Jewish from present-day Belarus. Belarus was founded in 1918; Douglas was born in 1916. Jews from Belarus are Lithuanian Jews. 61.102.171.6 (talk) 04:58, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please identify the cited source that makes it clear that Douglas' parents were Lithuanian Jews, or supply one. I question whether the statement that all Jews from Belarus are Lithuanian Jews is accurate, and even if it is, a source is required. Do not continue to add this link to other biographical articles unless you can supply reliable sources that show that the statement is true. General Ization Talk 05:03, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
First, your tone and behaviour is out of line with Wikipedia's policies on general civility. If you question Wikipedia's definition that all Jews from what is now Belarus are Lithuanian Jews, work it out on the relevant Talk page. 61.102.171.6 (talk) 05:05, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
My tone and behavior are consistent with Wikipedia's policies regarding unsourced content, and are not uncivil. I have asked you to supply sources that support content you are adding to multiple articles. Are you able to do this? If you think the content should be added, but do not have a source to cite, it is your responsibility, not mine, to find consensus for this change on the relevant Talk page(s). Until and unless you do, please stop adding this unsourced content. General Ization Talk 05:08, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
No, sorry. You just reverted by edit on a rabbi who was born, lived and died in Grand Duchy of Lithuania. That does not make him Lithuanian Jewish for you. 61.102.171.6 (talk) 05:11, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I will grant that that was an error, though I'd suggest that his places of birth and death be expanded to include a reference to Lithuania for those who may not intuitively know where those places are located. General Ization Talk 05:13, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Kudos to you for admitting a mistake. That said, please understand this is not a one-off but infraction of the general rule. Wikipedia is very clear what makes certain Jews Lithuanian Jewish. 61.102.171.6 (talk) 05:16, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Do you disagree with Wikipedia's definition of Lithuanian Jews? 61.102.171.6 (talk) 05:01, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't matter what I agree with. See WP:BURDEN. General Ization Talk 05:05, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Don't waste my time and consult Wikipedia users who are experts on the subject as you clearly are not. What will you question next - Americans being American? 61.102.171.6 (talk) 05:06, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
