Copyright issues edit

  Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Begell House article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement: "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike".

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the Help Desk. You can also leave a message on my talk page. --Yamla (talk) 17:32, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

December 2018 edit

  Hello, 50crosshwy. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Yamla (talk) 17:32, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry to see you refused to do this. You have now been blocked. --Yamla (talk) 18:20, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Hello, I have never edited the Wikipedia page before, therefore I did not realize this conflict of interest practices, and I also had no idea that you were messaging me and requesting these things of me. Therefore, i did not do them, such as disclose my employer, because I had no idea you even sent me a message. I do work for Begell House; my only goal was to increase the details on our Wikipedia page because it is extremely bare, almost nothing is listed there. I am not doing this to promote or advertise anything, I am only including factual information from our website. I will not do this in the future now that i am aware, but i do request you to unblock my IP address from editing anything in Wikipedia. Thank you~

Decline reason:

I regret that what happened to you was sudden, but we must take promotional editing seriously. Please review WP:COI and WP:PAID. Since you state there is nothing you want to edit about at this time, there is no need to unblock you. If you find something you want to edit, you are welcome to make a new request. 331dot (talk) 20:32, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Since you state you will not edit about Begell House, what will you edit about instead? 331dot (talk) 19:51, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I don't need to edit anything right now, but of course If i wanted to edit any page in the future, it would certainly be easier if my IP address was not blocked. I didn't see the message Yamla was sending me because this is the first time I'm doing this, so that is the reason i did not reply to their requests. If I had seen those, I would've done what she asked before going any further. I also don't believe I was given enough time to respond to their requests; the blocking was done in under an hour when i was away from my desk in a meeting. I don't think i was giving adequate time to respond — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50crosshwy (talkcontribs)

Note that we previously went through this with Flowers1300 (talk · contribs), both the copyright concerns and the conflict of interest concerns. --Yamla (talk) 21:16, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
