Truly have no idea how Wikipedia works but I know that saying Indigenous Peoples' societies had long faded before Europeans arrived is a sneaky attempt to excuse genocide. And the links in the sentence that I deleted are really not that important. It would confuse non-Canadians more than it would teach them this history of Canada to focus on whatever ancient civilizations you think "disappeared".

June 2021 edit

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:13, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Welcome! edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Welcome edit

I appreciate that the warnings posted here may not be the best welcome. To explain, one of the operating principles for Wikipedia is consensus. "Edit-warring", when different editors simply keep changing an article back and forth, is strongly discouraged, because it's not constructive. That is one of the functions of the Talk page of the article: to allow editors to discuss opposing points of view, different reliable sources, different perspectives, and try to seek consensus through discussion on how an article should be worded. That's why I started the comment on the Talk page for History of Canada - to break the cycle of delete-revert-delete-revert that was building up, and to encourage a discussion on the merits. Hope this helps understand the Wikipedia processes! Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 21:16, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

PS - Please sign your comments on Talk pages, like this one or the History of Canada Talk page. Just type in four ~ ~ ~ ~ (without spaces), or click on the box with the four tildes, and it inserts your user-name or IP address and time of the post. Helps keep the discussions organised.
