Introduction to contentious topics edit

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

March 2023 edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. Editors are expected to treat each other with respect and civility. On this encyclopedia project, editors assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not appear to do at Talk:2023 Covenant School shooting. Here is Wikipedia's welcome page, and it is hoped that you will assume the good faith of other editors and continue to help us improve Wikipedia! Please assume good faith.

No, the fact that the shooter is transgender need not be included in the article; at least not until we get more information. RockstoneSend me a message! 01:27, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Definition of a hate crime edit

A hate crime is committed against someone on the primary basis that the victim is part of a protected minority group. The person you are desperately referring to as a perpetrator of a hate crime actually went to that school, so they are probably a christian. They are also white, so that rules that out. There is ZERO evidence that the shooter hated christians or white people. Oh, and neither christians nor white people are minorities in this country. Christianity is the most popular religion in the world. There are no hate crimes against christians. If you believe that every crime against a christian is a hate crime then using your logic you must also believe that every crime against a transgender person is a hate crime. See how your logic just does not hold up at all? Way to make christians seem even whackier than they already are now go crawl back to 4chan, reddit, or whatever weird alt-right platform you came from. The contempt you have for non-white, non-heterosexual, and/or non-cisgender people is what is truly disgusting and fuels all violence and hatred around the world. Cprice45 (talk) 22:28, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I truly wish you the best. I have found speaking with a professional mental health specialist beneficial for anxiety. Heres a hotline.(877) 973-8878 47.200.110.84 (talk) 22:44, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Talkpage conduct edit

Stop attacking other editors on talkpages and using them as fora. Honestly, if you hadn't left a grumpy note on my talkpage accusing me of bad faith, I wouldn't have looked at your other edits. Wikipedia isn't a forum for your personal analyses of current events or the mental state of other editors. Acroterion (talk) 12:26, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

No biting 47.200.110.84 (talk) 12:32, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nope, you get warnings for policy violations. You aren't entitled to deflect criticism or sanctions by accusing others of bad faith or "biting. Dial it back, or face sanctions. If you're just here to bait and argue with other editors, you will lose editing privileges Acroterion (talk) 12:36, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay but for real why isn’t that professor’s article updated he did say crazy stuff, and is suspended it’s documented and the article doesn’t reflect that. I have honestly seen wiki editors be very left leaning and it kind of shows. My apologies for being a dick 47.200.110.84 (talk) 12:46, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is a global encyclopedia. It's not a vehicle for echoing American talkshow host talking points concerning their moral panic of the moment.. Acroterion (talk) 16:38, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for that but that doesn’t really answer the question. It’s documented in a wide syndicated publication that is reliable but it is omitted from the wiki article 47.200.110.84 (talk) 19:57, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Which you must provide. Because you didn't, another administrator has protected the article to ensure that editors comply with the biographies of living persons policy, which you were not following. Acroterion (talk) 00:02, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
