Request reason:

blocked for no reason with no contributions by a user without the proper authority to block

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 21:21, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

This IP page was blocked without any given reason. I cannot address the "reason for my block" without one given. There is no contribution history under the IP address. I prefer to stay logged out and would not like to have to log in to change anything, but this block forced me to use my account. The block is not necessary because I have never made a deleterious contribution, have only an interest in factual contributions, and this IP is not apparently shared with any malicious actor (empty edit history). Decline reason:

Of course a reason is given. Your block notice says, Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this IP address or network has been used (not necessarily by you) to disrupt Wikipedia. It has been blocked from editing to prevent further abuse. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 21:56, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

This reason was stated, yes, but is not cited. There is no evidence of this supposed malicious editing. The log says, "Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this IP address or network has been used (not necessarily by you) to disrupt Wikipedia. It has been blocked from editing to prevent further abuse." However, contributions log from this IP address are empty. Again, I request that my IP address be unblocked as I prefer to remain not-logged-in. It's against Wikipedia:Administrators#Accountability to block IP addresses without citing relevant incidents, even if you do claim there's a reason. Syphon8 (talk) 22:03, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This IP is not blocked specifically, it is within a blocked range. The reason given is "squelch sock account creation and IP socking, multiple sockmasters". Unfortunately, some abusive users make such blocks necessary to protect Wikipedia. As you have an account, the block should not be impairing your ability to edit, and as such the block will not be removed so you can edit while logged out. If you wish to advocate against range blocks, you are free to do that while logged in to your account, in the proper forum. 331dot (talk) 22:44, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

You have an account, which means that editing while logged-out counts as Socking, as such I don't see how any admin would be willing to unblock this IP. Tknifton (talk) 22:25, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

That's not correct. Users are under no obligation to log in. See WP:LOGOUT. Just like alternate accounts, if there is no abuse, there is no problem. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 23:51, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
