Yunnan Template

edit

Hey, I'm sorry if I stepped on your feet at Template:Yunnan3. I and another user are currently making templates like this for all Chinese provinces. You can see our progress at Wikipedia:WikiProject China/County-division templates. Since we seemed to be working on the same thing, I thought that I would change the template a bit so that the colors matched the others and move it to a title similar to the others. I should have asked you first, though, I'm sorry. I won't change your template again, and I hope that we can work together to get all of these templates done (not to mention creating all of the articles still missing for county-level divisions in China).--Danaman5 (talk) 03:50, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

In October, I created all the Yunnan Prefecture templates. I've changed the main Yunnan template as I want to model the organization of administrative divisions on the chinese and japanese wikipedias. What do you think? --40fifw0 (talk) 03:55, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Looks good to me. If we have this new template, do we still need the prefecture templates? They show some of the same information.--Danaman5 (talk) 07:36, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I am in the current process of replacing them. I've done Xishuangbanna and Wenshan so far. Can I ask you a question, how were you able to delete the history of Template:Yunnan3 when you merged it into the other template?--40fifw0 (talk) 11:50, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
The history of Yunnan3 is not actually gone, it is now the history of the other template. Moves are weird like this.--Danaman5 (talk) 16:41, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, how can I delete Yunnan3, now that I've transferd its content to Template:Yunnan? I've finished with it now.--40fifw0 (talk) 16:54, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I am an administrator and can delete articles within Wikipedia guidelines. I went ahead and deleted the template as a non-controversial cleanup action.--Danaman5 (talk) 20:13, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Im trying to finish off Yunnan with things such as navbox and complete infoboxes, including geocoordinates and maps. Im also considering recategorizing all these Yunnan counties by prefecture, as currently they are all in one category.

Also are not all the counties for other provinces created yet? You said (above) you want to get them done. How so? With just us two. --40fifw0 (talk) 01:01, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yup, there are still hundreds of counties left to be done. I have been translating them from the Chinese Wikipedia (which has all of them). I would prefer this, instead of making a one sentence stub. I think it might be just us two. Don't know what to tell you, I guess it will just take a while.--Danaman5 (talk) 06:14, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
From my experience adding interlanguage links between Chinese counties it seems to me that the French and Vietnamese wikipedia (as well as zh.wiki of course) have all counties done, the Japanese and German wikipedias have the vast majority created, and Norwegian wikipedia is about the same level as en.wiki. I know this may sound kind of abstract but is it possible we could get more people to join us to get them done. To be honest I don't think I can do even one province by myself, unless I stay here for several years.--40fifw0 (talk) 06:35, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ungrammatical?

edit

Please enlighten me on how is my edit ungrammatical. I did not change any of the syntax or grammar of the sentence but merely rearranged nominal rank before PPP rank - which is the most commonly accepted way or ranking economies. 130.113.81.33 (talk) 02:10, 16 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I left out "is" - you could probably have told that it was a simple omission. Regardless, my point on stating nominal rank before PPP rank still holds true. 130.113.81.33 (talk) 02:20, 16 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese)

edit

Hi, 40fifw0. I noticed that you added "City" to Yunnan cities' articles and added the prefecture level administrative divisions' name for disambiguation (as you did to Kaiyuan City, Honghe, Yunnan). This does not conform to the naming convention for Chinese articles. According to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese), there should be no "City" in cities' title, and only province should be added for disambiguation for counties and county-level cities, and only prefecture name should be added for disambiguation for districts. Therefore those relevant articles should be moved back. Thanks for your attention. --Neo-Jay (talk) 06:33, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'll try to sort out all these disambiguations after they're all done. -40fifw0 (talk) 07:24, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. If you cannot move some pages, please place requests at Wikipedia:Requested moves (we should not rename a page by cut and paste, see Help:Moving a page). I can help if you need a hand. Best regards. --Neo-Jay (talk) 15:33, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, tank you. I think maybe it is a good idea we should first create all the county-level articles and then we can disambiguate.--40fifw0 (talk) 15:38, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I've mostly cleaned up this mess. The conventions with regards to districts and county are pretty good because a district is well...generally associated with the city centre, while it is Chinese custom for people to state only the county and province they are from. --HXL's Roundtable, and Record 05:24, 26 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Explanatory model

edit

The article Explanatory model has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced sorry effort, likely redundant to Scientific modelling.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 8 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
