Your removal of content on Horacio Gutiérrez edit

Hi IP editor. I see from your most recent edit summary that you represent Mr Gutiérrez. Given your removal of a section in your most recent edit to his article, I want to point out a few things to you about the way our system works here.

First, we have a policy about article "ownership - it's not allowed. Because of this, even the subject of an article doesn't get any special say about what's in it. There are, of course, exceptions to this - we don't tolerate libelous information, for example, and we try to be very sensitive when article subjects find such things and ask for it to be removed - but in general, saying that Mr Gutiérrez doesn't want something in the wikipedia article about himself does not carry any power to make it so.

Second, we have fairly strict rules for what type of edits people with conflicts of interest may make to the articles they have a conflict of interest in. We don't prohibit such editing, but we ask that editors be very careful. Our goal here is to write an encyclopedia, not to represent the interests of particular people, and that means that sometimes an encyclopedia article will contain information that some people would prefer it didn't.

Those things said, I've rearranged the Horacio Gutiérrez article a bit to include the information on his health - which is well-cited to reliable sources and relevant enough to his personal life to be worth a small mention - to de-emphasize the implication that his health problems have any bearing on his reputation. If you or Mr Gutiérrez continue to find this problematic, or have any other issues with the article, the correct way to go about getting those fixed, because of your conflict of interest, would be to either post your request on the article's talk page so that other editors can see and discuss the issue, or if it's a more serious issue, to contact our Volunteer Response Team at info-en-q@wikimedia.org. This page will give you some more information about what the VRT can and cannot do for you.

I hope this information helps; I'll try to keep an eye on the article and here on your talk page to see if anything else comes up. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 16:13, 31 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Courcelles 16:20, 31 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
Further, your edit summary in your last revision is a borderline personal attack. Please stay far, far away from that direction, you can be blocked for making attacks, as well. Courcelles 16:21, 31 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Name-Calling edit

Note edit

This reference might be valid, but it is not clear at all why do you keep adding it to the personal life section. Materialscientist (talk) 05:55, 1 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

[redacted]

yes "Maternalscienist" , i can see my talk page edit

....but still don't understand why my addition to the article is being constantly erased??!! can people first read it before deleting it? you guys are writing harmful information about a great pianist who is still alive and stubbornly deleting any positive information i try to add/ it's unthinkable . 1966Buttfun went totally overboard. The whole Wikipedia seems to be one big trash. Sooooo frustrating!!!

besides.... edit

I am not adding anything in the Personal Life section! I am adding something in the references !

I can't speak for others. I came to that article because your IP was reported and found that you keep adding a reference [1] to an unrelated statement on "A U.S. citizen since 1967, he lives and works in the U.S., and is married to pianist Patricia Asher, another Masselos student. Gutiérrez suffers from bursitis and a chronic back injury". Perhaps you wanted to produce some other result, but I can't see it behind your coding. References should merely support specific facts of the article, there is no use adding them at random. Materialscientist (talk) 06:23, 1 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

June 2011 edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 12 hours for your disruption caused by edit warring by violation of the three-revert rule at Horacio Gutiérrez. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. [ I am trying to add relevant and important historical information regarding Mr. Gutierrez. I cited all the information to avoid disputes. The current page is not adequate and does not represent the body of work Mr. Gutierrez has done for the past five decades. Including bursitis and back pain for his personal life only seems a little outlandish, don't you think?. I, too, have included documented information. I was planning to continue to build his biography. The current one is not adequate. can we work on this together? I will reedit and resubmit.
