- I also urge you to refrain from these disruptive edits. I think what's happening is that you're wrongly conflating a dish's origins and its status as a 'national dish'. Many national cuisines include dishes that have their origins elsewhere. It has even been argued, for example, that fish and chips is Jewish in origin. - If the "first known written recipes for a dish of the name" being in England for this dish takes primacy, why doesn't "the first recorded use of (this) phrase" being in Scotland also take primacy?
