WP:ENGVAR policy and other concerns edit

I'm reviewing your edits to Kantokuen and note you are not conversant with policy WP:ENGVAR. In your five superficial edits you changed Commonwealth English to American English a number of times.

  • totalling to totaling
  • they to it (in America, a company is a building, elsewhere it is a group of employees)
  • Cancelled to Canceled
  • counter-offensive to counteroffensive

and many more. Strangely, and adding to the sense of randomness, you like changing 'cooperate' to 'co-operate', the UK usage!

Other usages are favored by you, that are either macht nichts, mere personal choice, or are wrong. Or show you are not carefully reviewing.

  • rail heads to railheads
  • 'rightness' and 'viability' to "rightness" and "viability"
  • albeit to but
  • quantity to number (of 'assets'?)
  • present day to now
  • this to that (over and over again)
  • that to this
  • these to those
  • these to them (of artillery pieces?)
  • 1,000 meters to 1,000 m
  • "very close to" to "very near"
  • "Should they have" to "If they had"
  • and why have you taken out so many hyphenated phrases? What have they done to you to deserve that/this/them/those?
  • "zones while making a fighting" to "zones and to make making a fighting"
  • "preparations: in order to prevent" to "preparations, and to to prevent"
and colons taken out, 'forcing' you to commit errors
  • "prisoners of war" to "prisoners-of-war"
  • "Soviet planners enlisted the help of the Allies to deliver additional supplies to facilitate" to "Soviet planners enlisted the help of the Allied to deliver additional supplies to facilitate"

That you are not reviewing your work is obvious. Why are you making other people clean up after you?

  • "from 1 tp 5"
  • bankwd
  • co-operatimg
  • Imitially
  • Thw (twice!)
  • "Soviet Naval forces" to "Soviet Nacy"
  • "though nothing came of this" to "bit nothing came of that"
  • "but of this number no fewer than 17 would" to "but at least 17 of them.would" (note the stray char)
  • "either this or" to "either thatbor"
  • 'this' to 'thaf'
Note how insisting on arbitrary changes 'forced' to to create typos

And probably best exemplified by your changing

  • KANTOKUEN to kaantokuen

Gee, what is the name of the article?

I have looked at the 8 edits by 5 different editors since your efforts, and many of your changes were reversed or fixed. People spending time fixing the article to correct problems introduced by you.

Text here is not your plaything. I'm not seeing any changes that add value to the article. I'm seeing damage that other people are having to clean up. I'm seeing rewording that does not add value.

Please reconsider why you are here. To contribute usefully, or to scratch grammar itches and play with word choices? Shenme (talk) 04:46, 22 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
