Agreed. The following sentence is far from neutral or factual and presents the author's very clear opinion as if it were accepted fact, even as stating in the very next breath that women and mothers themselves are primarily responsible for the procedure. The purportedly misogynistic undertone is clear and absurdly inappropriate, albeit especially typical of contemporary American "feminism": "The practice is rooted in gender inequality, attempts to control women's sexuality, and ideas about purity, modesty, and beauty."
