Female victims need to know it is okay to waive thier right to make a police statement. Video of the victim should be taken, video of the scene should be taken. A female psychiatrist needs to be present, as well as a female officer. The line "anything you say can be used against you" needs to be omitted in these circumstances. Do not use the video against, but for the victim. Let the evidence dictate the course of action. As I stated previously, Gentle care needs to be taken with female victims. These individuals are usually in shock, and in fight or flight mode. They need reassurance that the law is on their side, concrete evidence that they have a legal course of action to solve the problem. So many of us have been victimized during our lives, it seems almost normal to be hurt. The cycle of abuse has to end. With the first phone call, because the phone weighs a thousand pounds to us, are voices are weak, we are exhausted from blaming ourselves. We are the innocent. Not the accused.
