September 2016 edit

Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Disaster (Star Trek: The Next Generation), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

I added it back in with a reference. Also noted that it's a Mary Sue character (which it is, big time).

Please review WP:SPS. Wikis are not reliable sources and should not be used in citations. Thanks for your understanding. DonIago (talk) 05:57, 12 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

We're talking about a reference to Trek fan fiction and MSTings. The Wiki link that you're deprecating is more informative than anything else I could reference it with. And besides, it links internally to the original fan fics and MSTings themselves. I'm not going get a newspaper, magazine or book reference for this particular topic.

Honestly, you're just being difficult now.

If you can't provide a reliable source for the information, then it likely is not significant enough for inclusion here. You are welcome to discuss the matter at the article's Talk page if you would like additional opinions, or consider other forms of dispute resolution. DonIago (talk) 14:30, 12 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I still think that you're just being a hard-ass. But I also supplied a 2nd reference directly to the source files for the Ratliff MSTings. Please DON'T delete this. I can't imagine any better reference that you could ask for.

Please discuss this matter at the article's Talk page. I don't think you've demonstrated that this material is appropriate, but I would welcome the opinions of other editors, and you appear to feel strongly enough about the subject that I think you'll agree that a wider discussion is worthwhile. Thank you for your understanding. DonIago (talk) 13:34, 13 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have asked other editors for their thoughts at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Star Trek as well. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 13:41, 13 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't see the benefit of deleting this. You asked for references. I provided links to all of the original files and an entire web site documenting what I said. And you deleted my edits anyway, just for the hell of it.

Fine. If you want to be a troll, than go to town. I've got better things to do than fight with you. But you're not doing Wikipedia any favors, no matter what you may think.

I did not delete your information "for the hell of it". I believe I clearly discussed my concerns up above, and you appear to be summarily dismissing them.
Just because the information has been published somewhere online doesn't make it significant for inclusion here. I encouraged you to discuss the matter at the article's Talk page, asked other editors to review this matter, and pointed out that you had other options as well, none of which I was in any way obligated to do, so to call me a troll, beyond being a personal attack, seems rather unwarranted.
If you wish to discuss this further, I would appreciate it if you would refrain from name-calling. DonIago (talk) 14:03, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Yakisoba, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 00:36, 16 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
