- You seem to be confused. Scientists have ruled out deliberate engineering (the stuff promoted by Boyle and plenty of others). What hasn't been ruled out, and what the current investigations/calls for investigations are about is the possibility (extremely unlikely, but not yet possible to rule out entirely) that a natural bat virus (such as those studied by the WIV) was collected in the wild and then accidentally released. That has many issues, but at least is not an entirely ridiculous conspiracy theory. You seem to have been the victim of misinformation. Suggest you read up the many sources listed here. That, and refrain from accusing other editors of bias (although I'll point out that yes, we are biased against conspiracy theories). One and only response edit
The CCP silenced whistleblowers in late 2019/early 2020. The Chinese government has not allowed a full investigation into the WIV and has withheld data. There has been no investigation into whether the WIV scientists have CCP (let alone PLA) connections (Fauci admitted his own ignorance on this issue to congress last May). This is not a settled topic. This smells of 5th generational information warfare that got started with the CCP cracking down on whistleblowers in early 2020. Your own admitted bias on this topic is completely baseless and is inherently political rather than objective, and is propped up on China's governments own manipulation of the topic from the start. Thanks to this manipulation, nothing cannot be or should be ruled out, especially with a government that has fired on unarmed civilians and caused mass domestic famines, and is openly working towards becoming the global super power. Using the newspeak term "conspiracy theory" doesn't make it go away or make something untrue, especially when China has a bioweapons program that nobody seems to be aware of. This entire situation has been 100% mishandled from start to finish, and the fact people are not more skeptical of the CCP actions involved is mindboggling. You're as confused as you are openly biased and it does a disservice to the truth, which is already under attack from all sides.
I have zero interest in wasting more time with power tripping, openly biased editors. I have actual things to do.
