your Gladiator edit edit

Hi! I notice you removed the passage regarding "gossip and hearsay" over the parentage of Commodus. The gossip was Roman, and though later than Commodus' own lifetime (and biased against him) it should stand. The Historia Augusta (whence the information comes) is not the most reliable of sources, but in some cases is the only version of certain events. Some of its material is "factually" doubtful (as are a great many supposedly factual statements in contemporary Roman histories) but clearly demonstrate Roman perceptions of him. I've therefore reverted the change. It would be better to discuss such issues on the talk page before cutting material - which you will notice is properly cited. Regards.
