Some notes about video game release dates edit

Hi, I've noticed some of your edits, and there are two things I'd like to point out:

  • We don't list emulated releases in infoboxes (such as PS1 games on PSN, or NES games on Virtual Console, etc).
  • If there are a lot of release dates, we should indeed use a collapsible list.

This is in accordance with the instructions on the infobox template page. If you disagree, please start a thread at WikiProject Video games and explain why.--IDVtalk 19:46, 3 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • I see it all the time. and they are ports and a part of all its history. I don't like collapsible list. theres no law in saying it needs to be that way.
  • It is because people have not noticed them and removed them yet. Emulated releases are not ports, and collapsible lists are to prevent extremely long infoboxes. This is based on discussion and consensus - if you want to go against it, you need to discuss it and get support for it first.--IDVtalk 20:19, 3 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • with all due respect... don't be .... you know. Im trying to help and yes I am new. I triple check stuff. I cant believe ppl would go around biting people's heads off on the smallest thing. kinda like when you leave the garbage trash outide for 3 days and they take a pic of it and warn it. I will try and leave a comment on what your talking about. I feel like in that little box on the right side. should show everything. its not a long list to begin with. I disagree and say that they are ports. they are just digital versions of the game. no different.
  • No one here is being a dick. User IDV is correct. Emulated releases do not belong in the infoboxes, they are not dedicated ports. Just because some articles have them does not mean they are supposed to be there, they just have not been removed yet. This is not some arbitrary decision, but rather guidelines set within Wikipedia for video game articles reached by consensus among other editors. I understand you are trying to help, but by making these edits you are doing the exact opposite. Please see the Project Video Games page for more information on how you can help constructively. If you continue to add emulated releases to infoboxes, that constitutes disruptive editing which can get you blocked from editing for a period of time. TarkusAB 22:28, 7 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • 162.89, your edits are the subject of discussion at   Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#Collapsible lists. Editing against consensus is considered disruptive. You will be blocked if you continue, but we all would rather that you (1) participate in the discussion if you wish to change consensus, and/or (2) desist. czar 15:55, 9 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

June 2016 edit

Please don't change the format of dates, as you did to Theme Park World. As a general rule, if an article has evolved using predominantly one format, the dates should be left in the format they were originally written in, unless there are reasons for changing it based on strong national ties to the topic. Please also note that Wikipedia does not use ordinal suffixes (e.g., st, nd, th), articles, or leading zeros on dates.

For more information about how dates should be written on Wikipedia, please see this page.

If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia. Thank you. Adam9007 (talk) 00:17, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Jumping Flash!, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. 162.89, you've been asked and now blocked several times for your date changes, which either introduce errors or go against the {{infobox video game}} style guidelines. I would recommend reviewing your edits to see what other editors have noted as incorrect. Also keep in mind that wikis such as IGN's, MobyGames, Giant Bomb, and so on, are not reliable sources for release dates. Instead I'd recommend the video game reliable sources custom Google search. I hope you'll be willing to edit constructively in the future. czar 19:01, 29 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Why do you keep adding zeros in front of single digit dates like [1], [2], [3], [4]? --The1337gamer (talk) 18:31, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

You've been kindly asked to desist multiple times. Your edits continue to create work for others to clean up. There are guidelines for editing the {{infobox video game}} appropriately. Please edit constructively by following those guidelines—there is already plenty of cleanup work to do on these infoboxes. If you think the infobox style should be different, you'll need to find consensus with other editors first. If you act of your own accord and against existing consensus, we consider that disruptive and you'll just be blocked again. czar 18:47, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Your edits edit

Yet again, stop capitalising "cover art" in image captions. They are not proper nouns. Also there is no need to add platforms to the released field in the infobox when the game was only released on a single platform. --The1337gamer (talk) 19:15, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello 162.89.0.47, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to 1939 New York World's Fair have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:51, 29 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your addition to Edward Condon has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. /wiae /tlk 19:36, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm XLinkBot. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Edward Condon have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links.
Your edit here to Edward Condon was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://platinumpiotr.blogspot.com/2016/01/1940-nimatron.html) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Waxworker (talk) 20:17, 13 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
