August 2022 edit

Hello, I'm Serols. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Peter Pan (1954 musical)—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Serols (talk) 13:18, 1 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Serols. I would ask that you reconsider this decision. The change of "potentially offensive" to "racist" is correct in context. "Ugg-a-Wugg," the musical number in question, uses nonsense syllables to represent Native American language throughout and also refers to Native Americans as "redskins." Throughout the musical theater community, it is now agreed upon that this musical number is racist and it is no longer included in stagings of the show.
Language matters, and it's important to call out racism where we see it, especially in the times we're living in. I respectfully ask that this edit be allowed to stand, and if not, please explain why it is not a constructive edit given this additional context. Thank you. 160.253.128.120 (talk) 18:14, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
