Aggregate Averages
editHi, I would like to take a moment to ask: what method you are using to determine the average values for the aggregate polls on the Nationwide opinion polling for the 2024 United States presidential election page? — Jamie Eilat (talk) 18:02, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- To clarify a bit further: it seems as though you are making use of mid-range, rather than arithmetic mean as I and other users have been. Is it correct that you are taking the mid-range rather than arithmetic mean? — Jamie Eilat (talk) 20:03, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- @159.250.17.61 I politely ask that you please stick to using arithmetic mean for calculating the averages for the aggregate polls on the Nationwide opinion polling for the 2024 United States presidential election page, since this is the consistent way that these have been calculated, both on the 2024 nationwide polling page, and for all the other election polling articles that feature averages for aggregate polls. If you think that a different calculation would be better, then I would recommend that you explain any reasons for a different calculation either here or on the article's talk page. – Jamie Eilat (talk) 01:50, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
Calculating Averages
editHello. I appreciate your updates to poll aggregators, but you are calculating averages wrong. You are supposed to calculate averages by adding up the numbers from each aggregator. Then, take the sum and divide it by the number of aggregators. For example, you divide by 6 for Harris v. Trump because of the six aggregates. By using a calculator, it can be done within seconds. You've been reverted many times by other editors after you calculated the wrong way. If you continue, I will request restrictions on the articles of concern. Thank you.
