Shogi terminology dispute edit

Hi 133.106.206.172! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Shogi several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Shogi, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:48, 8 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Marchjuly: Thank you for WP:WL, but why did you provide no justification for the revert of my edit on Shogi in your edit summary? Did you revert my edit merely by virtue of it being an edit warring? That seems bizarre. But I would rather spend my time on something more constructive than convincing people that they are not knowledgeable enough. I really don't care if some random Wikipedia article is going to continue to contain inaccurate terminology because of a bunch of wikiholics disrupting my work. 133.106.52.50 (talk) 08:46, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Marchjuly: I'm waiting for a reply from you that actually explains why you think the original terminology is correct (since you didn't explain that in your edit summary). If there is none, I'll be reverting your revert of my edit here. 133.106.50.129 (talk) 21:56, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
There's a discussion about this that has been started on Talk:Shogi by Bruce leverett and you're more than welcome to participate in it and try and establish a consensus in favor of the change. Providing reliable sources in support of the change that go beyond what might be considered original research would be helpful. If, on the other hand, you continue to revert to try and force the change through and ignore WP:DR, a report will started at WP:AN3 and administrator assistance will be sought. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:06, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Marchjuly: I asked for an explanation of your own behavior on Shogi, not a general explanation of a bunch of Wikipedia policies. Please explain the reason for your revert. 133.106.216.64 (talk) 22:19, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
The reason was given in the edit summary I left. You're involved in a content dispute with another editor and instead of trying to resolve things through good-faith discussion per WP:DR, you decided to try and force the change through by repeated reverts. As mentioned above, a discussion was started on the article's talk page by the other editor and you're welcome to join in and provide a reliable source that support the change you want to make. Continuing to try and force the change through will lead to AN3 and possibly even the article being protected by an administrator. If you think my behavior is somehow a violation of Wikipedia policy, you can start a discussion about it at WP:ANI. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:43, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Marchjuly: No, I'm asking for an explanation of why you think the original terminology is correct, not that there was an edit war. The policy doesn't tell you to exacerbate an edit war by reverting other people's edits even when you don't have sufficient reason to believe that one version is better than the other, does it? 240B:C020:4C3:B115:0:2A:B8C3:E701 (talk) 22:48, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Marchjuly: I reverted your revert of my edit on Shogi because you consistently failed to explain what your concerns were with my edit. It's not very easy to resolve a content dispute when my opponent doesn't explain what he thinks is wrong with the changes I made. Let's assume your good faith and interpret your silence as a courtesy not to prolong this discussion over a non-existent content dispute any further. 133.106.216.64 (talk) 01:53, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:01, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Marchjuly: I indeed tried to resolve the content dispute between you and I by asking what your own objection to the content of my changes was, but all you did in response was to keep repeating that an editor started a discussion at Talk:Shogi. You never answered my question. It is not possible to resolve a content dispute when I have no way of knowing what your objection to my changes is. Please refrain from reverting other people's edits if you cannot defend your own behavior when asked to do so. 133.106.63.145 (talk) 11:05, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
