Betty Manygoats article

edit

Hello, I'm Netherzone. I noticed your addition of a collection to the Betty Manygoats article - thank you! Do you have a citation (reference) for this that can be added to the article? On Wikipedia, facts need to be backed up with a citation, and I'm wondering if the Museum has an online version of their collection, or if there is another way we can prove the claim. I created the article, so I am interested in keeping it up to our quality standards. Also, if there is a free (non-copyrighted) image, or fair-use image that you know of, that would be great. If you have any questions about adding these to the article, or are unfamiliar with our guidelines, just let me know! Either "ping" me here by adding: {{ping|Netherzone}} to your message, or reaching out to me on my own talk page - there is a link in my signature. Also, you can sign your messages by adding four tilde's after your message - tilde is this character: ~ . Again, welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here. Hello again, I see that you added a bare url in place of an actual formatted citation in a reliable source. However the bare url content does not mention Betty Manygoats, so there is no way to substantiate that she in in the collection. I've tagged your addition with a "citation needed" maintenance tag. I'll leave that in place for about a week, to provide you with time to find an actual citation that mentions that Betty Manygoats is in the collection. I do not doubt that she is, however we do need to prove it, otherwise the content will be deleted. Thank you, Netherzone (talk) 21:58, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I do not have a citation, but we have a number of pieces of Betty Manygoats in the William C. and Evelyn M. Davies Gallery at the Museum of Texas Tech University.

Yes, I understand that. It's great that she is in the museum collection, however a citation must be added that proves that this is the case. Also, if you work for the museum you probably have a conflict of interest (COI). I'll post another message with more information below about Wikipedia's policies on COI, and paid editing.   Hello, I'm Jooojay. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Virgil Ortiz, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jooojay (talk) 20:26, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

  Please do not add or change content, as you did at Virgil Ortiz, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. In your second attempt, you added a citation however that citation did not explicitly have the information you were adding. Please review WP:RS. Jooojay (talk) 21:53, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

  Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Dextra Quotskuyva, you may be blocked from editing. You need to add proper citations if you add content. There needs to be something published in a secondary reliable source. The citation you keep adding to Texas Tech museum does not mention any of the artists. Please re-add the content once something is published that can confirm that these artists are in fact in the collection. That is how things work on Wikipedia to maintain quality standards. Without these policies and guidelines, anyone could add anything as a "fact". Netherzone (talk) 20:19, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, 129.118.47.164. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Regarding that you work for the Texas Tech museum. Netherzone (talk) 21:19, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
