Seasons in Australia

Dates for seasons in Australia are fixed in the calendar. See http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/glossary/seasons.shtml. Please stop making changes to articles that claim season lengths have changed. (This may apply to other countries too. You should check.) HiLo48 (talk) 04:45, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Climate of Sydney

You're new here. Please accept the guidance of someone with more experience. You have NOT provided two truly independent sources. Both are simply reporting the perspective of The Australia Institute. That's a think tank. They aren't climatologists. As I have already shown you, seasons in ALL of Australia are defined by specific dates. This hasn't changed, not matter what The Australia Institute says. I don't find the claim disagreeable. I find it simply wrong. Also, I asked you to take discussion to the article's Talk page. This is standard Wikipedia practice. You didn't do it. You are behaving confrontationally. Not a good approach for a newbie. HiLo48 (talk) 11:50, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

I am new here, but I have a conscience and basic knowledge. With all due respect, I believe you are taking seasons a bit too literally. Nobody is saying seasons in Australia end at the equinox dates (March 22/Sep 22). The sources merely state that summers seem longer in terms of their HEAT. Many warm cities in the world have summers that go on for as much as 3-4 months, and people would describe them as "long summers". It is colloquial. That has nothing to do with going against the official designation of the seasons. I am not confrontational. I just added two legitimate sources that are used regularly, even in that article. I don't see why they have to be reverted because you personally find them "simply wrong". And if I were so persistent I would've reverted your edits back to my ones in the other articles. But I have the decency and goodwill to not do so. And I gave you the respect and compromise to not do so. About the article's talk page, I'm sorry to say but it's barely active.
