Singapore Open(s) / Mixed Doubles tennis edit

Since the ATP and WTA main articles regarding Singapore overlap for 1989-90 and 1994 it might be feasible to merge the two main articles together in one article called Singapore Open (tennis) to address this overlap. In regards to the naming of the 1996 ATP Singapore Open I have come across a similar example involving the Athens Open and see no reason not to simply call the article the 1996 Singapore Open in spite of the WTA edition being wound up.

Adding mixed doubles titles to the grand total of a player's titles is perfectly fine but will be difficult to administer outside of the majors - Bud Collins' History of Tennis recalls a Mixed Doubles Classic held in the mid-1970's while some tournaments like the 1985 Lipton International Players Championships held special mixed doubles events. Fulham players response edit

I would not bother mentioning loans out, the player's contract remained with Fulham throughout that period. If a player spent ten years with the club but was loaned out six times, he still only had one contracted spell with his "parent" club, not seven or eight. No other list of this type shows players as having separate spells with the "main" club either side of loans out -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:35, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fulham F.C. players. edit

Thanks for the note - yes, I do have a subscription to allfootballers.com, but that's a big ask. Whilst I'm happy to look up the details for the odd player here and there, to do this for all the missing players on your lists would take a rather long time. On a quick count, there are about 200 players in your list, although there are about 480 in the Category:Fulham F.C. players, so you've some way to go just to make the lists cover everyone in the category. Realistically, something like 1000 players will have turned out for Fulham over the last 130 years or so.

You can have a trial subscription to allfootballers.com for only £5 for one month - this might give you some idea as to whether this will help you achieve your goal, but as they say in Dragons' Den, "I'm out". Sorry. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 05:41, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi - as I felt rather guilty about the tone of my last note, I have filled in the gaps for the players on the list. I have also converted the list to make it sortable. There are several links that do not go to Fulham players, e.g. Martin Thomas and Paul Watson, so you will need to create new names for the articles which will be redlinked until the player articles are created. You will also need to look at references at some point. Cheers, David aka Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 09:56, 14 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations on completing the list of 100+ players. Unfortunately, allfootballers.com does not list the nationality as such, only the place of birth. As I'm sure you know, that is not evidence of nationality. When I created the List of Southampton F.C. players, I decided to leave out the nationality for just that reason. As for list itself, I have a few comments:

  1. The dashes in the "Club career" column should all be " – " rather than " - ", if you see what I mean.
  2. I cannot see the need to have current players both highlighted in blue and to have their career details marked with an asterisk.
  3. There should be an "Updated to ..." tag somewhere in respect of present players.

All the best. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 05:09, 24 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nice one! Warsop's book (cited in the recent articles I've been working on) contains extensive profiles of every player who played for the amateaur teams in the 1872-1883 finals, so they'd be relatively easy to do as and when I have the time :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 09:32, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

2010 WikiCup Signups Reconfirmation! edit

To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.

It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:

  • Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
  • Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
  • Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
  • Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
  • Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
  • Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
  • Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
  • Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
  • Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
  • In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.

If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! On behalf of the WikiCup judges, iMatthew talk at 03:40, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Citv 1998.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Citv 1998.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:25, 12 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of December 2009 United Kingdom snowfall edit

The article December 2009 United Kingdom snowfall has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I don't get it...is this notable? Snow falls all the time.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — ækTalk 00:45, 19 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

The 2010 WikiCup begins tomorrow! edit

Welcome to the biggest WikiCup Wikipedia has yet seen! Round one will take place over two months, and finish on February 26. There is only one pool, and the top 64 will progress. The competition will be tough, as more than half of the current competitors will not make it to round 2. Details about scoring have been finalized and are explained at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. Please make sure you're familiar with the scoring rules, because any submissions made that violate these rules will be removed. Like always, the judges can be reached through the WikiCup talk pages, on their talk page, or over IRC with any issues concerning anything tied to the Cup. We will keep in contact with you via weekly newsletters; if you do not want to receive them, please remove yourself from the list here. Conversely, if a non-WikiCup participant wishes to receive the newsletters, they may add themselves to that list. Well, enough talk- get writing! Your submission's page is located here. Details on how to submit your content is located here, so be sure to check that out! Once content has been recognized, it can be added to your submissions page, from which our bot will update the main score table. Remember that only articles worked on and nominated during the competition are eligible for points. Have fun, and good luck! Sorry I didn't reply sooner. It all looks fine to me apart from the line "The chart is significantly skewed towards singles released at the beginning (2000-2002) and end (2007-2009) of the decade" which could be original research, unless there is a source for it. And obviously the source for the actual list is needed. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 19:51, 3 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2010 and Dermatology-related content edit

I noticed that you are participating in the 2010 WikiCup. I have been working on the Bolognia push which is a project to make sure Wikipedia has an article (or redirect) on every know cutaneous condition. With that being said, there are still many cutaneous condition stubs to be made, and Bolognia could be a source for a lot of DYK articles, etc. Therefore, I was thinking maybe we could help one another... a competative WikiCup that also serves to improve dermatologic content on Wikipedia. I could e-mail you the Bolognia login information if you have any interest? ---kilbad (talk) 03:15, 12 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2010 January newsletter edit

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. We've had some shakeups regarding late entries, flag changes and early dropouts, but the competition is now established- there will be no more flag changes or new competitors. Congratulations to   Sasata (submissions), our current leader, who, at the time of writing, has more listed points than   Hunter Kahn (submissions) and   TonyTheTiger (submissions) (second and third place respectively) combined. A special well done also goes to   Fetchcomms (submissions)- his artcle Jewel Box (St. Louis, Missouri) was the first content to score points in the competition.

Around half of competitors are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. 64 of the 149 current competitors will advance to round 2- if you currently have no points, do not worry, as over half of the current top 64 have under 50 points. Everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places in round 2! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Donna Powell. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Round one is over, and round two has begun! Congratulations to the 64 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our first round. A special well done goes to   Sasata (submissions), our round one winner (1010 points), and to   Hunter Kahn (submissions) and   TonyTheTiger (submissions), who were second and third respectively (640 points/605 points). Sasata was awarded the most points for both good articles (300 points) and featured articles (600 points), and TonyTheTiger was awarded the most for featured topics (225 points), while Hunter Kahn claimed the most for good topics (70).   Staxringold (submissions) claimed the most featured lists (240 points) and featured pictures (35 points),   Geschichte (submissions) claimed the most for Did you know? entries (490 points),   Jujutacular (submissions) claimed the most for featured sounds (70 points) and   Candlewicke (submissions) claimed the most for In the news entries (40 points). No one claimed a featured portal or valued picture.

Credits awarded after the end of round one but before round two may be claimed in round two, but remember the rule that content must have been worked on in some significant way during 2010 by you for you to claim points. The groups for round two will be placed up shortly, and the submissions' pages will be blanked. Popstars (UK series 1) edit

Hi there, I noticed that you created the Popstars (UK series 1) article. I just want to point out a few innacuracies in the article -

Firstly, there was no public voting in this series, the final line up of contestants that formed Hear'Say were picked by the judges NOT the public.

There were no live episodes, all episodes were pre-recorded and edited.

Davina McCall did NOT host the series, there was no host, just a voice over artist. There was no Popstars Extra show either!

All of these things only started in the second series, Popstars the Rivals.

Many thanks, Bleaney (talk) 01:51, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly.   Hunter Kahn (submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B.   TonyTheTiger (submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. Proposed deletion of Smash Hits Let's Party edit

The article Smash Hits Let's Party has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A disambiguation page that does not contain any valid links to articles.

Re: Man United player lists edit

Did you get that book from a branch of The Works? I noticed they've starting selling it cheap there now. Stupid me, I got it for full price when it first came out! Anyway, I'd be glad to help. I have several books that would be useful for this task. – PeeJay 19:28, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Depends how many players have made less than 100 appearances. I'm guessing it's around the 500-600 mark, which would necessitate a couple of lists. Perhaps one for 50-99 appearances and one for 1-50 appearances (although the list for 1-50 appearances would be much larger than the 50-99 appearances list)? – PeeJay 22:47, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, 1-24 and 25-99 sounds good. I mean, I'm not a fan of the uneven intervals, but if it produces lists of similar length then I'm for it. I don't really like the idea of having three separate lists to cover every Manchester United player, though. For a start, it will likely necessitate a reordering of the "more than 100 appearances" list. – PeeJay 22:59, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's all looking good, mate. I'll look over the stats when I get some time. – PeeJay 23:30, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think we should go by the official stats, as listed at StretfordEnd.co.uk. I don't think they include matches played in the abandoned 1939-40 season, so all stats should be adjusted accordingly. I'll have a look over the articles when I get a chance, but you seem to be doing a great job as it is. – PeeJay 22:49, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2010 May newsletter edit

We are half way through round 3, with a little under a month to go. The current overall leader is   Sasata (submissions), who has 570 points. He leads pool C. Pools A, B and D are led by   Hunter Kahn (submissions),   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and   White Shadows (submissions) respectively. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Two of last year's final 8,   Theleftorium (submissions) and   Scorpion0422 (submissions), have dropped out of the competition, saying they would rather their place went to someone who will have more time on their hands than them next round. On a related note, a special thank you goes to   White Shadows (submissions) for his help behind the scenes once again. There is currently a problem with the poster, perhaps caused by the new skin- take a look at this discussion and see if you can help. The competition has continued to tick over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. Good luck to all! WikiCup 2010 June newsletter edit

We're half way through 2010, and the end of the WikiCup is in sight! Round 3 is over, and we're down to our final 16. Our pool winners were   Ian Rose (submissions) (A),   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) (B, and the round's overall leader),   ThinkBlue (submissions) (C)   Casliber (submissions) and   TonyTheTiger (submissions) (D, joint), but, with the scores reset, everything is to play for in our last pooled round. The pools will be up before midnight tonight, and have been selected randomly by J Milburn. This will be the toughest round yet, and so, as ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Though unaffiliated with the WikiCup, July sees the third Great Wikipedia Dramaout- a project with not dissimilar goals to the WikiCup. Everyone is welcome to take part and do their bit to contribute to the encyclopedia itself.

If you're interested in the scores for the last round of the Cup, please take a look at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Round 3 and Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Full/Round 3. Our thanks go to   Stone (submissions) for compiling these. As was predicted, Group C ended up the "Group of Death", with 670 points required for second place, and, therefore, automatic promotion. This round will probably be even tougher- again, the top two from each of the two groups will make it through, while the twelve remaining participants will compete for four wildcard places- good luck everyone! WikiCup 2010 July newsletter edit

We are half-way through our penultimate round, and nothing is yet certain. Pool A, currently led by   Sasata (submissions) has ended up the more competitive, with three contestants (  Sasata (submissions),   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and   TonyTheTiger (submissions)) scoring over 500 points already. Pool B is led by   Casliber (submissions), who has also scored well over 500. The top two from each pool, as well as the next four highest scorers regardless of pool, will make it through to our final eight. As ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Planning has begun for the 2011 WikiCup, with open discussions concerning scoring and flags for next year's competition. Contributions to those discussions would be appreciated, especially concerning the flags, as next year's signups cannot begin until the flag issue has been resolved. Signups will hopefully open at some point in this round, with discussion about possible changing in the scoring/process opening some time afterwards.

Earlier this round, we said goodbye to   Hunter Kahn (submissions), who has bowed out to spend more time on the book he is authoring with his wife. We wish him all the best. In other news, the start of this round also saw some WikiCup awards sent out by   Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions). We appreciate his enthusiasm, and contestants are of course welcome to award each other prizes as they see fit, but rest assured that we will be sending out "official" awards at the end of the competition. WikiCup 2010 August newsletter edit

We have our final eight! The best of luck to those who remain. A bumper newsletter this week as we start our home straight.

We say goodbye to the six who fell at the final hurdle.   Geschichte (submissions) only just missed out on a place in the final eight.   Resolute (submissions) was not far behind.   Candlewicke (submissions) was awarded top points for in the news this round.   Gary King (submissions) contributed a variety of did you know articles.   Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions) said "I'm surprised to have survived so far into the competition", but was extactic to see Finland in the semi-finals.   Arsenikk (submissions) did not score this round, but has scored highly in previous rounds. We also say goodbye to   Ian Rose (submissions), who withdrew earlier this month after spending six weeks overseas. Anyone interested in this round's results can see them here and here. Thank you to   Stone (submissions) for these.

Signups for next year's competition are now open. Planning is ongoing, with a key discussion about judges for next year open. Discussion about how next year's scoring will work is ongoing, and thoughts are more than welcome at Wikipedia talk:WikiCup/Scoring. Also, TonyTheTiger is compiling some information and statistics on the finalists here- the final eight are encouraged to add themselves to the list.

Our final eight will play it out for two months, after which we will know 2010's WikiCup winner, and a variety of prizes will be awarded. WikiCup 2010 October newsletter edit

The 2010 WikiCup is over! It has been a long journey, but what has been achieved is impressive: combined, participants have produced over seventy featured articles, over five hundred good articles, over fifty featured lists, over one thousand one hundred "did you know" entries, in addition to various other pieces of recognised content. A full list (which has yet to be updated to reflect the scores in the final round) can be found here. Perhaps more importantly, we have our winner! The 2010 WikiCup champion is   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), with an unbelievable 4220 points in the final round. Second place goes to   TonyTheTiger (submissions), with 2260, and third to   Casliber (submissions), with 560. Congratulations to our other four finalists –   White Shadows (submissions),   William S. Saturn (submissions),   Staxringold (submissions) and   ThinkBlue (submissions). Also, congratulations to   Sasata (submissions), who withdrew from the competition with an impressive 2685 points earlier in this round.

Prizes will also be going to those who claimed the most points for different types of content in a single round. It was decided that the prizes would be awarded for those with the highest in a round, rather than overall, so that the finalists did not have an unfair advantage. Winning the featured article prize is   Casliber (submissions), for five featured articles in round 4. Winning the good article prize is   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for eighty-one good articles in round 5. Winning the featured list prize is   Staxringold (submissions), for six featured lists in round 1. Winning the picture and sound award is   Jujutacular (submissions), for four featured pictures in round 3. Winning the topic award is   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for forty-seven articles in various good topics in round 5. Winning the "did you know" award is   TonyTheTiger (submissions), for over one hundred did you knows is round 5. Finally, winning the in the news award is   Candlewicke (submissions), for nineteen articles in the news in round three.

The WikiCup has faced criticism in the last month – hopefully, we will take something positive from it and create a better contest for next year. Like Wikipedia itself, the Cup is a work in progress, and ideas for how it should work are more than welcome on the WikiCup talk page and on the scoring talk page. Also, people are more than welcome to sign up for next year's competition on the signup page. Well done and thank you to everyone involved – the Cup has been a pleasure to run, and we, as judges, have been proud to be a part of it. We hope that next year, however the Cup is working, and whoever is running it, it will be back, stronger and more popular than ever. Until then, goodbye and happy editing! List of Fulham F.C. players edit

Hi, I thought it easier to reply here been as the thread is slipping down the Footy list.

  • I was wondering why you're not including Football League Trophy appearances, as these are generally included in overall stats. Fulham also played in the Watney Cup and Anglo-Scottish Cup. You may want to see how I've dealt with the issue of which competitions to include (List of Doncaster Rovers F.C. players), although I appreciate everyone has their own approach.
  • Regarding the 'Nationality' bullet point is it the case that you intend to denote the nationality in the 'Notes' column as the country of birth for all players who have not played international football? I just wondered if that could get a bit messy and would detract from other notes that you may want to make?
  • For info, Sonny Gibbon was a Wales Amateur international and Johnny Price was an English Aamateur international. Don't know if you want to add these facts.

Hope this is useful. Let me know if you want any more feedback. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 12:29, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

In response to your post:
    • The Anglo-Scottish Cup was not a pre-season tournament although the group stages did start in August. The Watney Cup was bascially pre-season. However, both tournaments are featured in Rothmans annuals (results and line-ups) so have a degree of notability. The Anglo-Scottish Cup effectively turned into the Football League Trophy and thus probably has a greater claim over the Watney Cup, although I believe the latter had extensive coverage at the time. However, I can understand why you may want to go with your book source which omits them, in which case it would be worth stating that fact, although the appearance stats for those competitions are probably available.
    • Re nationalities, I got the information on Gibbon and Price at Joyce, Michael (2004). Football League Players' Records 1888 to 1939. Soccerdata. ISBN 1-89968-67-6. {{cite book}}: Check |isbn= value: length (help) If your query is wider than that then full England internationals are available at [1], although I'm not sure whether each player needs a specific reference against them if there are already general references below/specific refs at the player page, though appreciate you have done that for a number, and others may well have a different opinion to me.
Let me know if further queries. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 11:27, 2 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations also go to   Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1,   Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and   Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! Online Ambassadors edit

Hey, I saw your edits at DYK and clicked over to your user page and was impressed. Have you considering applying to become a Wikipedia:Online Ambassadors? It is a great way to help college students become more familiar with Wikipedia, and make them good long term contributers! Sadads (talk) 19:44, 5 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:WOWPvg.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:WOWPvg.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Armbrust Talk Contribs 08:00, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rhodri Giggs edit

This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Rhodri Giggs, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://wikibin.org/articles/rhodri-giggs.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. WikiCup 2011 February newsletter edit

So begins round two of the WikiCup! We now have eight pools, each with eight random contestants. This round will continue until the end of April, when the top two of each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers of those remaining, will make it to round three. Congratulations to   The Bushranger (submissions) (first, with 487 points) and   Hurricanehink (submissions) (second, with 459), who stormed the first round.   Casliber (submissions) finished third with 223. Twelve others finished with over 100 points- well done to all of you! The final standings in round one can be seen here. A mere 8 points were required to reach round two; competition will no doubt be much more fierce this round, so be ready for a challenge! A special thanks goes, again, to   Jarry1250 (submissions) for dealing with all bot work. This year's bot, as well as running smoothly, is doing some very helpful things that last year's did not. Also, thanks to   Stone (submissions) for some helpful behind-the-scenes updating and number crunching.

Some news for those who are interested- March will see a GAN backlog elimination drive, which you are still free to join. Organised by WikiProject Good articles, the drive aims to minimise the GAN backlog and offers prizes to those who help out. Of course, you may well be able to claim WikiCup points for the articles you review as part of the drive. Also ongoing is the Great Backlog Drive, looking to work on clearing all of the backlogs on Wikipedia; again, incentives are offered, and the spirit of friendly competition is alive, while helping the encyclopedia is the ultimate aim. Though unrelated to the WikiCup, these may well be of interest to some of you.

Just a reminder of the rules; if you have done significant work on content this year and it is promoted in this round, you may claim for it. Also, anything that was promoted after the end of round one but before the beginning of round two may be claimed for in round two. Details of the rules can be found on this page. For those interested in statistics, a running total of claims can be seen here, and a very interesting table of that information (along with the highest scorers in each category) can be seen here. WikiCup 2011 March newsletter edit

We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is   Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H.   Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring.

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. WikiCup 2011 April newsletter edit

Round 2 of the 2011 WikiCup is over, and the new round will begin on 1 May. Note that any points scored in the interim (that is, for content promoted or reviews completed on 29-30 April) can be claimed in the next round, but please do not start updating your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. Fewer than a quarter of our original contestants remain; 32 enter round 3, and, in two months' time, only 16 will progress to our penultimate round.   Casliber (submissions), who led Pool F, was our round champion, with 411 points, while 7 contestants scored between 200 and 300 points. At the other end of the scale, a score of 41 was high enough to reach round 3; more than five times the score required to reach round 2, and competition will no doubt become tighter now we're approaching the later rounds. Those progressing to round 3 were spread fairly evenly across the pools; 4 progressed from each of pools A, B, E and H, while 3 progressed from both pools C and F. Pools D and G were the most successful; each had 5 contestants advancing.

This round saw our first good topic points this year; congratulations to   Hurricanehink (submissions) and   Nergaal (submissions) who also led pool H and pool B respectively. However, there remain content types for which no points have yet been scored; featured sounds, featured portals and featured topics. In addition to prizes for leaderboard positions, the WikiCup awards other prizes; for instance, last year, a prize was awarded to   Candlewicke (submissions) (who has been eliminated) for his work on In The News. For this reason, working on more unusual content could be even more rewarding than usual!

Sorry this newsletter is going out a little earlier than expected- there is a busy weekend coming up! A running total of claims can be seen here. List of English football transfers 2009–10 edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of List of English football transfers 2009–10, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Lists of English football transfers 2009–10. Glossary edit

Always happy to contribute :) I'm having fun! And, yes, I do think Pele and Maradona are worthy of inclusion... but probably *only* Pele and Maradona, as they were the ones voted joint-Player of the Century. JonBroxton (talk) 03:24, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Haha, I'm doing the same thing! I just went into the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee and suddenly thought "Man on!", and had to run back to computer before I forgot it! JonBroxton (talk) 03:30, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
