I copied the footnotes/references from my Chinese version. I am the first author of Ye Huacheng (葉化成). You can also check the history of Chinese version: https://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E8%91%89%E5%8C%96%E6%88%90&action=history

The Chinese content of Ye Huacheng: https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%91%89%E5%8C%96%E6%88%90

First, I wrote the Chinese version, and then translated it into English. I used the same references, so I copied them to the English version (I thought this would be the simplest way to do). This is also one of the ways that one of the Wikimedia Taiwan members taught us (including all members in WikiProject Taiwan 1000).

Hi @張3373: Sorry, you need to ping AfC reviewers to be sure they will see your Talk page replies. Thank you for the explanation. When you translate from one Wikipedia article into another language, you need to attribute the translation in the edit summary. Here is the explanation: WP:HOWTRANS. For the footnotes, you need to copy them from editing mode (Visual Editor and Source Editor both work) in order for the metadata to copy properly. I've copied over the first footnote so you can see the difference. This makes it a lot easier for other people to find your sources. -- asilvering (talk) 05:56, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your explanation and help for editing the first footnote. I didn't know that I had to attribute the translation in the edit summary (Wikimedia Taiwan didn't say this in the training session). Thank you again for this information. That means I have to do it with my other translated articles, including the footnote mode. 張3373 (talk) 07:35, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Once you are extended confirmed (500 edits, 30 days) you can use WP:CXT, which automatically writes an appropriate first edit summary, and makes it somewhat easier to copy over references and wikilinks. It is prone to weird errors, but you may prefer it to doing everything by hand. Personally, I use WP:CXT.
You may also want to put Template:Translated page on the Talk page of your translations. -- asilvering (talk) 23:17, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

November 2023 edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from one or more pages to another page. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. For example: Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk pages of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, please add attribution retrospectively for that also, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. S0091 (talk) 19:44, 16 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
