Proposed deletion of Sultanah Zarith Sofia edit

The article Sultanah Zarith Sofia has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. Moin AfD edit

There is gathering consensus for withdrawal. Please have a look ASAP. Thanks! Agricola44 (talk) 14:28, 1 June 2011 (UTC).Reply

@Monphi. During the past eighteen months, you have edited extensively on the subject of Iran and the government of Iran and its instrumentalities. Your recent nomination for deletion of an article about a prominent Iranian living in the USA Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Parviz Moin has given rise to much criticism and no support. If you are editing Wikipedia at the behest of or on behalf of the government of Iran (and of course I have no knowledge if this is in fact the case) I point out that this would be contrary to the spirit and policy of Wikipedia. Xxanthippe (talk) 00:12, 2 June 2011 (UTC).Reply
I have nothing to do with Iranian government however it is strange that how you deduce it and how you allow yourself to adjudicate about the others. It is also funny because Parviz Moien has nothing to do with politics. Actually I did this after seeing his article if Persian Wikipedia which you can read it via Google translator. This 3 lines article is only referenced by his own web page and starts with : "Professor Parviz Moein is one of the most significant university professors in the word" after that thought it is a self written article about a trivial person, but now I regret to not search more about him.Monphi (talk) 17:54, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your assurance and for withdrawing the AfD nomination. It best to carry out WP:Before before making AfD nominations. Xxanthippe (talk) 22:42, 3 June 2011 (UTC).Reply

Gardens edit

I see you have removed the merge tag on charbagh. But there are far too many overlapping short and stubby articles in this area: Charbagh, Bagh (garden), Persian gardens, Paradise garden, Mughal gardens, Islamic garden - one day there will have to be some merging. Johnbod (talk) 15:25, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have not removed this tag. I put. Monfie 15:31, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

Ardabil Carpet edit

Please note that the page was correct before - we don't normally use "The" in article titles of this sort, even where sources do. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (definite and indefinite articles at beginning of name). It's not The White House for example. It's usually best to go through the WP:Requested moves process. Johnbod (talk) 14:54, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have changed the name, not only because of the original name, but also because of disambiguation. Ardabil (or Ardebil) is the name of a city and "Ardabil Carpet" is a type of carpet which is made in this area.--Monfie (talk) 03:05, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
I realize that, but though "Ardabil Carpet" in the sense of any carpet from the town certainly crops up, it isn't exactly a standard term in English (and should not have a capital "C". A more correct disam would be Ardabil Carpet (Victoria and Albert Museum). Johnbod (talk) 03:31, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:AKU logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading File:AKU logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 12:32, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Kordan Doctorate.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kordan Doctorate.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:21, 22 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pehlwani edit

I will soon be reverting the pehlwani article once again. There is already a separate article for Persian wrestling so please stop trying to claim the Indian variation as Persian. Yes it is true that the modern Hindi word pehlwani is of Persian origin and that this form of wrestling is very similar to the Persian style which influenced it. But they have separate histories, different training methods, terminology, etc. That is why the articles are separated. If you wish to combine them, then please go through the proper procedures of merging the pehlwani and pahlavani articles. Unless and until you do that, it makes no sense to just add information about one topic when there exists a separate article for it. Morinae (talk) 14:21, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am not going to claim the Indian variation as Persian. But both of them are almost same thing, it will be obvious if you look at both practices videos. What I am doing is merging them. We can have Indian and Persian history parts in the article. And about terminology, in English version almost same terminology is accepted. For example, you can see in UNESCO video, indian clubs have been used in Iranian references even they had came from persia. I had put merging template on Persian version. After this elaboration I wish you not revert it again, instead help me to merge these two as soon as possible. Monfie (talk) 16:25, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
In that case, I won't revert again. You do have a strong basis for the merge, after all. But please discuss it on the pehlwani talk page first, in order to get other opinions. If it turns out that the majority oppose such a merge, the article would have to be reverted all over again, and all your editing will have gone to waste. Please discuss it before making any more changes. I'v already made a section for it on the talk page. Morinae (talk) 12:55, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
OK. I will not make any other change in the article and I will participate in discussion first. Monfie (talk) 14:52, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hope you don't mind but I'll be temporarily reverting the article, just to keep things neutral until a concensus can be reached on the merge. We can revert it later if a majority is for the merge. Morinae (talk) 10:06, 15 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

We noticed though that when you edited List of paintings and plots by Pascal Coste and Eugène Flandin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mahyar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Speedy deletion nomination of TAAR (disambiguation) edit

A tag has been placed on TAAR (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Taar (instrument) edit

A tag has been placed on Taar (instrument), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo, or other unlikely search term.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Two points: 1) only one source is needed to verify tomato production in Iran; the data for 2013 are included in the provided FAOSTAT source and 6.2 million tonnes is correct; 2) I removed again your edit to include the EU protected zones, the source for which is not very informational or useful to the overall tomato article.
