Hi, גור אריה יהודה, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question.

However, there is a small issue with your username. As it is in a non-Latin alphabet script it may not display correctly for many other users. Although usernames like yours are not prohibited, Wikipedia's signature guideline and username policy encourage you, as a courtesy to other users, to alter your signature so that it also includes a transliteration of your username using Latin characters, so others can see it correctly. For the how-to of tailoring your username, please see WP:CUSTOMSIG.

Thanks, and feel free to message me about anything.

213.109.230.96 (talk) 09:56, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@213.109.230.96: The reason I reverted your edit was because you did not provide a reliable source. If you find one, you can reintroduce it to the article, as your revision is saved in the history of the article. Ariel 17:38, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

West Bank edit

You have just broken the 1R rule governing ARBPIA articles at West Bank. The reason I gave no edit summary, is that the talk page already clarified the error you made in your edit, which adopted the Likud-centric phrasing 'Samaria and Judea' as the subject of a sentence, whereas it is not accepted by arbitration for our narrative voice. Nishidani (talk) 17:49, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Nishidani: My apologies for violating 1RR. I did not see the talk page at the time of my revert(s). Thank you for making me aware. Ariel 18:04, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for reverting. No problem. Nishidani (talk) 19:47, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Chaldean Neo-Aramaic edit

Hello, you appear to be editing the above page with references which do not support your information. None of your references supplied mention ethnic Chaldeans, and this is not supported by accredited historians. The article is about the language itself, and this clearly originated in upper Mesopotamia. I have referenced this page accurately. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EddieDrood (talkcontribs) 07:59, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@EddieDrood: I did not introduce any material other than this revision in which I clarified that the Chaldeans descend from ancient Chaldeans. Ariel 08:55, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

History of the Jews in Laos edit

I stopped the speedy deletion, but I am not at all sure that article will hold up at AfD. In fact, I'm fairly sure that it will not, unless there is some more to be said. DGG ( talk ) 10:03, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@DGG: Thank you, I was not entirely sure how to proceed with requesting deletion of the article, so I apologize if I tagged it under the wrong category. The article is of little to no value in regards to the History of the Jews. Ariel 18:41, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Canaan edit

Hi. While it was good you made this revert, it is still not good enough because now it links to Palestine and not State of Palestine, which it is about. --IRISZOOM (talk) 21:28, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@IRISZOOM: I hyperlinked to Palestine rather than Palestinian Territories or State of Palestine for the sake of WP:NPOV until consensus is reached to avoid violating WP:WAR. Ariel 22:03, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
What consensus should be reached? Both Palestinian territories and State of Palestine refers to the areas occupied in 1967. Palestine is a different thing, it's about the region, and this is not what is mentioned in the list. There is already consensus that there is a Palestinian state after the November 2012 vote in UN. In fact, "Palestinian territories", which was what was inserted wrongly and that I changed back to "State of Palestine", is more correct than linking to the region. So it's more POV now because "Palestinian territories" was overwhelmingly used before the UN vote in 2012 and it can't be seen as NPOV to link to that. Even if some wouldn't like "State of Palestine" to be linked, no one can dispute the first one is totally acceptable, which was actually what the editor SamEV used. --IRISZOOM (talk) 22:11, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I was referring to consensus between you and SamEV. I agree that "State of Palestine" in this context is the proper term and hyperlink. Ariel 22:17, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I understand you but not even he seems to dispute that "Palestinian territories" should be used, it was actually he who changed it to that. So while I appreciate your efforts solve this, I think it was too much as Palestinian territories (or its alternative names, such as OPT) is a standard term. --IRISZOOM (talk) 22:22, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Transliteration edit

Hi Ariel, I'm sorry to bother you but I just thought I should point out to you the incorrect transliteration in your user box of your pseudonym. גור אריה יהודה is "Gur arieh yehuda", not what you've got written. If this is deliberate I apologise. Cheers —  Cliftonian (talk)  02:31, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Cliftonian: Thank you for bringing this to my attention. To the best of my knowledge, גור אריה יהודה is the most common transliteration of Lion of Judah, which is why I decided to use it instead of the proper transliteration which I was unable to find; do you happen to know the precise transliteration so I can correct it? Ariel 03:09, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
No, what I mean is the Latin script transliteration of the Hebrew גור אריה יהודה in your info box on your user page. You've got "Ha-Aryei Mishevet Yehuda" written, which is related but not the same.
  • "Ha-Aryei Mishevet Yehuda" = האריה משבט יהודה The lion from the tribe of Judah
  • "Gur Arieh Yehuda" = גור אריה יהודה Young lion Judah
I hope this helps. Cheers —  Cliftonian (talk)  03:25, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see. It can get a little confusing with the various transliterations, especially as Hebrew is not my primary language. Thank you for helping me out, I appreciate it.   Ariel 06:43, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
No problem, glad to have been helpful. (Hebrew isn't my primary language either! ;)) —  Cliftonian (talk)  08:51, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Christianity and antisemitism edit

Don't understand why you have return the section that i have deleted in the article. It was not related to the article, lacked sources and plus was wrong - missing reference to the laws and restrictions under the pact of Omar and the under the Safavid dynasty... pls delete it again... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Setareh1990 (talkcontribs) 17:36, 23 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Setareh1990: The reason I reverted your revision is because you must hold a discussion on the talk page and reach consensus prior to blanking a section. Ariel 00:17, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have wrote the reason in the talk page. Do I need to also wait for some people approval?
P.S - who allowed you to patrol me???
--Setareh1990 (talk) 11:59, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
As long as consensus is reached on the talk page, you are allowed to revert back to your revision. The only approval needed is by the community on the talk page. I patrolled your user page and talk page; that simply means I verified your account is abiding by Wikipedia policy. Ariel 17:06, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
And how exactly the consensus obtained? I have outlined in the talk page the reasons for why I have deleted the part that I deleted before you dismissed it. Is that enough? Or I should wait for something else to agree with that?--Setareh1990 (talk) 15:56, 1 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
It would be preferred if other contributors discuss the situation so consensus can be reached. If it is an obvious violation of policy, the material may be removed without consensus or may be tagged if dubious. Ariel 04:06, 3 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bible edit

I understand your removal of The, but the sentence reads awkwardly without an article. I assume that A does not constitute a problem, as it retains the generic usage of the term?--Jeffro77 (talk) 04:09, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Jeffro77: I was inspired by this edit as it made me realize the quasi-garden path effect. Aesthetically, "The" does improve the flow of reading, so I am confused; perhaps I may reflect on WP:MOS. Ariel 04:15, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I see. However, there is a use-mention distinction involved at the other article you've indicated, where "Hebrew Bible" is identified as a term, whereas "The Bible" is described as a collection of books. But another editor has since reverted to "The" anyway.--Jeffro77 (talk) 04:20, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Interesting; I will keep that in mind next time. Thank you for making me aware. Ariel 04:59, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

History of the Jews in Laos edit

Ariel, just to let you know, I undid the bluelink of Jews as the chosen people you provided for "Jewish [presence]", and substituted Jews instead, which would be the appropriate bluelink in context of what was being said. I'm not sure why you linked to the concept of 'chosen-ness' instead of the more appropriately neutral article, but it's cool. Just wanted to give you a heads up. It actually appears that the article might not survive anyway, as there's no "history" to speak of there regarding the Jewish people; I added some additional bluelinks anyway, in case it stays. Have a good day! Quinto Simmaco (talk) 14:42, 14 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Quinto Simmaco: I do not recall hyperlinking Jews as the chosen people; perhaps it was an error as I intended on hyperlinking to Jews. I do encounter issues such as this when I use VisualEditor. Thank you for finding this error and correcting it! Ariel 17:51, 15 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
