Fair use rationale for Image:Furtado02.jpg

edit
  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Furtado02.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 15:32, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

RE: Image:Furtado02.jpg

You said: "Hey there, I was told to have a fair use rational for this image, but i didn't actually upload this image into Wikipedia. I clicked on this picture a long time ago when i didn't know how things worked, and randomly clicked a button and my user name appeared right next to the edit...so what should i be doing? should i just leave it alone or let someone else edit it..thanks"

Yeah, I'd just leave it alone if I was you. It'll be deleted automatically in a few days. Thanks! --Yamla 21:57, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nelly Furtado song articles

edit

Your recent contribution(s) to Wikipedia are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at inline citations that best suits each article. Thanks! Extraordinary Machine 22:59, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use

edit

Fair-use images such as Image:Whoanelly.jpg must have a detailed fair-use rationale for each article they are used in. Additionally, their use must provide a meaningful contribution to the article. Please see WP:FU. Thanks. --Yamla 16:26, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Whoanelly.JPG)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Whoanelly.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I know the seeds haven't been released yet, but it's almost a foregone conclusion that Roger Federer is going to be the no. 1 seed. But for the sake of Wikipedia standards and all, I guess you are right... tankman 13:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spellings of tennis players

edit

As I see you often contribute to tennis articles here, I wanted to draw your attention to a point which is truly disgusting me. I know it's hard for Anglo-Saxons don't have the devoted keys on the keyboard (but also my Italian misses all), but spellings such as Guillermo Ca'''n'''as, Nicole Vaidisova, Albert Montanes, Robin Soderling, Radek Stepanek, Nicolas Massu etc. are not so pleasant. The pronunciation without the correct diacritics gets totally wrong (ie, Radek Štěpánek would be properly pronounced as "Shteh-pah-nek, Canas). If you can, maybe you would add the correct ones if you've time and eye? Thank you for attention. --Attilios 00:15, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
